20 wk sono...could not tell??
I just had my 20 wk sono and they told me that all looked good. They could not tell the gender or take all heart measurements needed for the exam, so I have another sono with my next visit end of this month. They said the angle of the baby and the legs and cord were right in the baby's "area". I thought at 20 wks you were pretty much guaranteed to know. Anyone ever have this happen?

I am suprised they didn't schedule you to come back in a week or so? I'm sorry baby was hiding. Hopefully baby will cooperate next time!

i've heard of it happening... i know for my level II, DS was asleep and refused to budge! we saw half of his penis  so the sono tech said boy. it was confirmed 2 weeks later (they had me go back to check the heart because they could not get a good view. i've heard that's very common).
when you go back, drink OJ about 15-20 minutes before the sono, that should help wake the baby up.

It is very common to not be able to find out or get all the measurements. But it seems most offices have you come back within a week or two to try again.

Unless you get a really nice MD/sono tech, they would never reschedule you for another sono just to find out the gender. If they got all the other information they need, the gender reveal is just a bonus for you. I know a few people that went and paid for their own sono b/c the baby wasn't cooperative. Insurance companies don't look too kindly on extra sonos for fun.

Hmm, maybe I should call the dr office and see if my sono can be earlier than my monthly visit? God forbid their is an issue...I am going to call.

Oh I know that, but she stated they could not get heart measurements. That is the only reason I am suprised.

Yes, the heart measurements is the reason for another sono, they would not just schedule me for gender. So, I left a message and they say they will get back to me Monday. I would just feel better is thye got the measurements and all checks out. If i can find out the gender, great too, but I can wait on that.
