Thanksgiving celebration ideas?
We usually do songs/poems & a Thanksgiving related snack. K does a feast. Just looking for some new ideas. I'd really like to focus on the idea of being thankful. TIA!
PS. I teach 1st grade

Re: Thanksgiving celebration ideas?
I always do something called the friendship bowl... u can call it whatever you want actually.. each kid brings in something to bring to the table like pretzels, chex mix, m&ms, gummys, etc. u take turns putting all the goodies together.. it makes a sweet and salty kind of mix..it's actually yummy. Before eating u go around the room and discuss one thing that each kid is thankful for. Prior to this... I read them a short story on how everyone came together to have a big feast and how everyone became friends and brought something to the table to share. That's when u explain to them that they will all be bringing something to the table. The best part is that the kids love it..it's easy... and if u do it right.. educational. I think I will do it again even in 3rd grade.
