Lower back pain...
Over the past few weeks I've noticed a pain in my lower back- right above my butt. It's worse on the left side, but I feel it on both sides. I notice it more after walking alot, standing for long periods and when I wake up in the morning (after sleeping on my side)
I did a 5k walk for breast cancer yesterday morning and was practically crippled for the rest of the day.
This is normal during pregnancy- right?
From what I gather on pg websites it's posterior pelvic pain or sacroiliac joint pain.
It isn't terrible- but it's uncomfortable. All I want to do is take a nice, hot bath- but I know that's a no-no.
Anyone have any reccommendations to help?
I really wanted to start getting some more exercise (just walking or riding the stationary bike) but I don't want to aggravate things.
ETA: I am 15wks along and noticed it starting right before I hit 14wks

No one else has experienced this?

Re: Lower back pain...
i have had backpain since my belly started to pop... it is all from the shift in body weight and your body shifting for delivery...
my sister gave me some yoga poses the help... she is a private prenatal yoga instructor so it comes in handy

Re: Lower back pain...
Keri, I see a chiropractor for it. It is the loosening of the sacroiliac joints (the joints in your hips) and it causes instability. They sell maternity belts to help.
This is what helps me-ice the area-20 on, 40 off and massage the area when it is off.
Feel better!

Re: Lower back pain...
I have sciatica in my left butt, lower back. Maybe you have that too. I dont do anything for it except lay down whenever I can and try not to over do it. Feel better!

Re: Lower back pain...
If you have what I have, its normal due to relaxin hormone loosening things down there. Pain in the middle of my butt almost, and usually worse on one side. Not really by joint, but all across.
I see a physical therapist who specializes in pregnancy, she gave me simple exercises to do at home, I do them almost every day and she assigned DH to give me thigh massages. It helps a lot, especially if I've been on my feet a lot, my inner thigh gets very tight and muscles get knotted.
Warm, NOT HOT, baths work wonders too.

Re: Lower back pain...
I've had this pain too. It started much earlier this pregnancy than my last. Can anyone describe the excercises that are supposed to help? Thanks!

Re: Lower back pain...
I have previous back pain in my tailbone..spasms and such, I feel like if I have a heavy day on my feet and i take a step forward with my left foot i get this weird sharp pain in my tailbone...Sometimes it hurts to put pressure on my left foot. I just figured it was from my previous back pain along with being PG
I feel your pain though!
