wish someone would have told me....

im really bummed that i waited so long to come off BC. I am now on cycle day 48 and no AF and no BFP.

i was always irregular before going on BC and i wish i would have known it would take me a while to become regular. all my friends had no issues so i didnt think anything of it...a couple even got BFP right off of it.

we wanted to try to conceive by the end of October for job reasons and now we have to wait until the summer to start up again.

im just really upset that we have to wait so much longer now to start trying because of me. and it just stinks that everyone around us is getting preggo Chat Icon

just needed to vent on here bc i have to pretend its ok in front of family so they dont get upset that im upset.

I know how you feel. I really wish even my doctor would have told me how screwy my cycles COULD be after stopping BCP. I'm sorry...hang in there! Although mine haven't regulated either, each cycle definitely did get shorter. Chat Icon Chat Icon

hang in there..

unfortunately, there's no way to predict what your body is going to do. My dr. said that it could take 2-3 months for my body to get back to regular cycles after coming of BC, but she also said it's very possible to get pregnant the first month. You just don't know. Even if your cycle was regular that first month, there's only a 25% you would've gotten pregnant anyway.

so, you have to prepare for the best, and expect the worst.

still sux tho, i know.

Are they irregular becuase of PCOS or some other issue? Vitex/Chasteberry can help regulate cycles in women with PCOS but I'm not sure about other women with irregular cycles so maybe look into that. They have it at GNC and it's not expensive at all.

I took it for a month and got my bfp at the end of that month but my cycles and O date were pretty regular on their own.

I feel the same way!! I asked my former doctor at least one year before I planned to stop BCP. She confidently said wait 3 months and I'll be good to go. So I went off last May thinking it would be easy--and I'm still not regular and didn't ovulate for quite a few cycles. And I had perfectly regular cycles pre-BCP. I was on it for 5 years.
My new doctor told me flat-out, it can take 6 months to a year for some women to regulate post BCP (but he did say it happens for others right away).

I wish I'd come on this board a whole lot sooner b/c I would've ditched the pill much sooner! I get that everyone's different, but my I wish my doctor at least told me that some women take much longer than 3 months!

I'm sorry. Hang in there. It will happen for you. I was on BC for a long time, came off 12i/07 and was preg 01/08. Went back on for about 6 months, came off and i'm having a hard time now too.

Please please please hold on to... ' It will happen when it's your time'.
