Waiting to lock in mortgage rate?
I knew there were a few of us on here waiting to lock... Seems like we got a bit screwed on friday huh? I was away for the weekend and came back to see that rates went up... Bit depressing... Should have locked and then floated down if necessary

Wells Fargo went up... Conventional 4.875 to 5 and FHA 5 to 5.5 ... We're doing FHA so that means we should be at 5.75 now (loan officer said usually to add .25 onto those numbers since we're not paying 1 pt)... We were at 5.25 for the longest time... Blahh... Well, we'll find out on tues exactly just how much damage...
What bank are you working with?

Re: Waiting to lock in mortgage rate?
DH and I locked in our rate last week (as we didn't want to have to watch the rates everyday).
If we didn't, however, there would have been a clause in the agreement that it could only go up .2 max from the date we started the floating rate. Do you have this?

Re: Waiting to lock in mortgage rate?
Alright... I was able to lock in at 5.375... not the 5.25 that I had before that held steady all last week but still very good... Adds $20 more a month, which is better than the $100 we thought we were getting hit with
Lock asap girls...

that's great! what;s the blog?
if they do go down, we can put money down to lock that rate it, either way, it all gets credited towards the closing costs.

Re: Waiting to lock in mortgage rate?
We also just locked in with Wells Fargo, but earlier this week at 4.875.
We are closing this friday on our re-fi.

Re: Waiting to lock in mortgage rate?
4.875? I assume that you are paying for points with this rate? If not, who is giving you this rate? It's really low!
