Re: OPK question
I test twice a day. I have a short LH Surge...so I guess if I didn't test twice a day I may not get a positive OPK. That is why some women never get a positive on them.....b/c they could of have missed it if they only test once a day ( and have a short LH surge)
If that makes sense.

Re: OPK question
I don't think you necessarily have to do that. i think some people test twice a day because they are afraid they are going to miss their surge if they test once a day (because your surge can last less than 24 hours, in which case it is possible to miss it).
I usually test once a day, in the afternoon, but I don't use the CBE digitals. Do they say to test with FMU?

Re: OPK question
I tested at 3 pm everyday until I got my surge.
I think you test twice if you can't test during the day. So people test with FMU, and then at night, so they don't miss the surge.

It might be totally different with the digitals, I used the dollar tree ones, and they don't recommend FMU. I was totally making that all up, that's just what I assumed, not actually know for sure.. probably should have said that lol, sorry

Re: OPK question
From what I have read, I think LH is metabolized in your body in the afternoon (I want to say between 2 and 8 pm?) so if you test in the afternoon you are less likely to miss your surge. That's why most OPKs say to test in the afternoon.
That being said, I think I have heard somewhere that with the CBE digitals, you can use FMU, although I'm not sure why.
Have you ever seen this website? Might be helpful...

I used FMU my first month, and I never got my positive from it, that's why I had to do it later in the day.
And I always held it for at least 3-4 hours. It stinks lol

Re: OPK question
ok...I called my doc and I guess I'm just giong to cover my bases and test in the afternoon...I work from home anyway so it's not a big deal, I just think FMU is soooo much easier ...but I want to give this my best shot...so I'll follow the plan and test in the afternoon... I will just keep reminding myself that this stress is much better than the stress i felt last month by not knowing if/when I o'd!!

This is what I read as well. I think doing it once a day at the same time in the afternoon/early evening (I used to do ~6pm when I got home from work) should cover it.

Re: OPK question
The CBE digital OPK, which is the one my RE recommends, says it can be used any time of day. The CBE fertility monitor, which costs about $200, requires FMU. You probably only really need to use one, but it can't hurt to use both if you can afford it!

I don't think he said one way or the other about FMU ... I always just test in the afternoon because I read somewhere that that is the best time to test. But the packet insert says any time of day should be all right... I don't see why that wouldn't include FMU.
