Does anyone have a child that bangs their head a lot?
If so, was it a phase they grew out of? and if your child is older, was the head banging indicative of some other type of developmental delay?

It could be a sensory issue.
It depends on how old the child is, and how long they are banging their head for.

DS did this a lot when he was mad or frustrated from like 15-18 months old. As he learned to talk and was able to express himself, it stopped. Its actually fairly common when they dont have the words to express themselves. He doesnt do it anymore.

DS is 16 months and definitely does it when he's frustrated or doesn't get his way. I'm hoping it's normal!! He's been doing it for about a month or so now. I'm hoping when the words come, the banging stops.

My DS is 15 months and he has been doing this for the last month. He hasn't done it much since I ignored it and let him hurt himself. It was when he was frustrated or mad that I wouldn't let him do something. He'd carefully place himself on the floor, lay down then bang his head once and cry. . Once he realized he didn't get a reaction out of me or any acknowledgment he pretty much stopped but still will find something hard to hit his head on if I make him angry.

Yes, DS did this when he would get frustrated, he almost never does it anymore, (he is 18 months) it was def a phase. I've also been told it's very common.

ds did it a few times, i felt it was attention seeking behavior, he did it when i would be cooking dinner and placed him in pack n play, and he wanted to get out. it was a way of telling me he was frustrated or bored. i jsut ignored it and moved the pack n play away from wall. it stopped

Same here!
From reading a few of your posts though, your son is a sensory seeker right? I'm just trying to determine if this is "typical" toddler behavior or something more.
It's not done out of anger and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it happens. The ped. doesn't really have an issue with it at this point, but will re-visit it again at the 18 month visit.
