in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
hey all
sorry for the fake name, but i am not ready to come out just yet!
we found out we are pregnant with #2 a few weeks ago. i have estimated that i am 8 weeks along but at my sono today the tech said i was 6 weeks 5 days.
now, i know exactly when we were intimate, so i am wondering how i can be so off. is there something to be concerned about?? could the sono tech be off? is that possible?
please reassure me! we did see a heartbeat today, but until the 2nd trimester comes around i am going to be a worrywart!

Could be a late implanter but from what I've seen from friends & family lagging behind is usually not a good sign.
I hope I'm wrong.
eta. and yes the sono tech could be wrong. no one is infallible.

Re: in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
Is there any possibility you could be close to 6.5-7 weeks or does that timing not make sense with when you had sex? I wasn't charting, but I had just come off the pill and had a feeling I may have ovulated late. When I went for my first sono, I was 8 weeks based on my LMP, but DS measured 7 weeks. The doctor pushed my EDD back 1 week. After that, DS measured a week ahead at my other sonos, but my EDD stayed the same. Sono measurements can be off by a few days and you could've had a late implanter.

Re: in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
My Doc charted me at 8 weeks and then when I got the sono shortly after the Tech said 6 weeks. Everything was fine and each visit the baby was getting bigger and bigger. They thought my original DD was going to be May 6th and then the tech said May 12th... I wound up being later and had DS May 28th.
Seeing the HB is a good sign too. Hang in there and I pray your next appt everything is moving along.

My DR said I was 3 weeks less than I predicted. I stll haven't figured out how I was so wrong, but my DD is a happy, healthy and bubbly 1 yr old

Re: in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
my LMP was around 9/10-9/11. i can't be sure of the exact date. i know i do not have 28 day cycles, actually they are longer. we were intimate around 9/26-9/27.
i am glad to hear some of your stories. having had a miscarriage in the past, i am just very nervous.

Re: in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
I wouldn't worry... (easier said than done) tech could definitely have been wrong. It could also be a combination of your cycle being shorter or longer than the norm and when exactly implantation took place. There are so many things that have to fall into place, it's easy to be off with the numbers. GL!!!

Re: in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
Sperm can live for 5 days or so if the conditions are right. So if you had sex and then ovulated 5 days later, that would put you closer to the 8 week mark you think you should be at. If the embryo implanted late, that could also contribute to the age the tech is estimating. Also the sonos can be off by a day or so. Those measurements can't be perfect.
ETA: just saw you said you have long cycles. remember that when how far along your are is calculated, it is done based on the "perfect" 28 day cycle. So if your cycle is longer, than this would throw it off. It is a good thing you saw a heartbeat. That is a major milestone in pregnancy.

Re: in hiding for now...but have a question re:sonos
I guarantee you the sono is just wrong. I knew right around when I became pregnant with DD and yet the sono in my doctor's office was consistently reading 1.5 weeks behind. It really worried me a lot, but everything was fine and when I went to my nuchal translucency sono at Madonna it showed the baby being exactly where I thought!

This happened with DD. My calculations had me at 7 weeks she was 5 weeks 5 days at the first sono. It turned out I just ovulated a little late.
