I'm not a Yankee fan but
I have to say congratulations to the fans on here for them winning, Yes i'm a mets fan and was rooting for the opposite team but atleast i can be big enough to say congratulations!! Enjoy your day!

I don't get why some Met fans dislike the Yankees... Its a NY team, they're not in our division... so they're not really a threat to us.
PHILLY, however... we battle each & every year for a playoff spot.

i think that's BS. I don't have many yankee fans rubbing it in my face though... Actually, I think MET fans are more obnoxious, even though I don't consider myself part of that sect. The Yankees are a phenomenal team and always have been... As a baseball fan in general, I can recognize this. I can recognize the Phillies had a great season, but I can never root for them.
Only reason I could accept is it IS a win for the National League but I'd rather a win for NY... It's easier for me also b/c my husband is a die hard Yankee fan, but I was like this even before I met him... My dad always rooted for NY

i hear what you are saying.. i guess everyone has their own opinions about it.. like for me.. i have SO many yankee fan friends and co workers near me .. and they rub it in my face ALL THE TIME. so thats what makes it more difficult to see the yankees win.. as far as the team goes.. i dont mind the team.. they are excellent, and historic..etc.. but its ashame that the fans have to ruin it .. for me rooting for them...i just can't.
and as a met fan.. i dont say anything to them.. i shut my mouth.. but i still get it.. 
the phils.. i hate but i can careless..
but i totally get why met fans either root for the phils or yankees..

This is exactly why I don't necessarily 'hate' the Mets. But I have to admit...in 86, I rooted for the Red Sox! That's only cuz I was a kid and really ****** off that the 'other' NY team was in the WS and everyone jumped on the Mets bandwagon. Oh and yeah...

And that is probably the MAIN reason I rooted against the Mets that year- oh the obnoxiousness! I can't tell you how many times I've watched Mets fans make complete azzes of themselves on mass transit on the way home from Subway Series. Or how about the douchebags who were sitting a couple rows ahead of us smoking, even after countless heckles from me.
I love you girls though, you actually make a good name for Mets fans. I'm glad you're nothing like them!! My friends at work are Mets fans, and since they're nice, the Mets as a team get my respect.

yea see... you say the same thing about met fans.. i think it goes both ways.. but i love a few of my yankee friends... including you tara!! that just makes my life easier not rubbing it in my face.. cause i really do take it to heart.. thats how much i love my mets.. i always have had this problem.. i need help

I knew I loved you for a reason.. In my experience, all the Met fans in my life jumped on the Philly bandwagon. Hello!!! That would be similar to a Yankee fan rooting for the BoSox or Rays in the WS against the Mets.. That would NEVER EVER happen- I think all Yankee fans wish a slow and painful death on the BoSox
Mark my words, when the mets make it to the WS, I will support them 100%.. They're a NY team- with obnoxious fans (again, from my experience) but still.. And if they ever play Boston- you BET your azz I will be wearing a Mets shirt, hat, hoodie, painted face.. whatever I need to do to support the mets.
BTW, caroline- you do a MEAN posada squat :)

Actually, I have to ITA with you Michelle...the WS doesn't even EXIST in this house unless the Yanks are in it. Though go figure- DH was into it last year for the Phillies, since that's his National League team. His Dad and Pop Pop were huge fans.

And I was pulling for Philly, for alot of the reasons Deanna mentioned, but that's because of my experience with Yankee fans, and with the exception of me and my dad and a few others, my family is full of them.
I think obnoxious fans exist on both sides of the fence. I've seen Met fans harass fans of other teams at Shea or Citi for no reason. I'm not a fan of that. As long as you're not being obnoxious, if you pay for a ticket, you should be able to root for who you want to root for.
For me, I've had a steady diet from family of hatred toward the Mets - Every screw up, I get an email. Every Yankee championship - I get the picture of the back page of the paper. If the Mets are winning, it's because they got lucky. The WS in 86? Mets won because the ball went through Buckner's legs. If the Yankees screw up and I retaliate, someone was injured or the umps blew the call.
Heck, if the Mets win a WS, I'll hear that the championship doesn't match up to the 27 the Yankees won. We'll just never win.
Plus, I was at Game 5 of the World Series in 2000 when the Mets lost. I quickly made my exit while the Yankee celebration began. All down the ramp, I had Yankee fans berating me and DW, throwing things at us, chanting things at us about being beaten in our house. I know not all of the fans are like this, but it left a bad taste, combined with what I put up with from family.
And I'm sure there are Yankee fans who can tell me stories of regular subway series games where the Mets will have won, and the Met fans will harass them.
So, that's why I pulled for Philly - if they had won, it would be a one day thing and it would be over. Now, this is going to drag on for me for the better part of a year.

Exactly my experiences with Yankee fans and why I hate dealing with most of the fans. I actually respect the Yankees, but not their fans. I have had so much torment from Yankee fans for being a Mets fan (and a Red Sox fan, but that i can accept), it totally leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth and is why i hate going to yankee stadium for games. They don't know how to win gracefully without throwing a loss in the other teams face.
I'm sure there are fans out there who don't fit this description, but im my experience it's what i see all the time.
As obnoxious as Mets fans might be, there's not a whole lot backing it up.. whereas the Yankee fans have an entitled sense to them, like they're the popular kids in school and it gives them an over inflated sense of pride.
i agree with Deanna on her post also.
