Getting to the airport?
For past vacations, I've always had a ride to the airport ... but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen for our upcoming trip.
How do YOU get to the airport?
Do you drive & park at the airport?
Do you take a taxi/car service?
Any suggestions or recommendations for a reliable company?

Re: Getting to the airport?
We take a car service. It is absolutely the best thing that we could do b/c it really makes us feel like we are on vacation the moment we leave our house. We are in NJ so I don't have a recommendation for LI - sorry.

Re: Getting to the airport?
How do YOU get to the airport? We take a taxi We live in the city so there ya go.
Do you drive & park at the airport? We did this once when we still owned a car. Never again. Pricy and a pain in the azz.
Do you take a taxi/car service? My parents live on LI and this is what they do.
Any suggestions or recommendations for a reliable company? I will call mom tomorrow and ask her what company they use

Re: Getting to the airport?
I used to use Classic Transportation but they no longer do airport trips.
Now I use super shuttle - www.supershuttle.com
No complaints!

Re: Getting to the airport?
We live about 4 miles from Islip MacArthur airport, and we have a parking permit. We drive there, I drop off DW and DC with the luggage, then I drive to the end of the building and park very close with no fees (parking permit is very cheap, and it's a one-time fee for 2 or 3 years).
As long as you can get somewhere from ISP, for us, it's the best possible scenario.

Re: Getting to the airport?
We almost always fly out of JFK so we can take the LIRR to the Air Train. (We'll catch a cab to and from the train station).

Same. Even with the train fare it's much cheaper than a car service. And usually less stress.

If we don't get a ride, we usually park in the Avistar lot.

Re: Getting to the airport?
Thanks for all the suggestions!
I priced it around and ended up going with Bellmore Taxi Association, they had the best prices I found.
$41 each way
(return trip is the same price, other places charged more for the return trip)

Re: Getting to the airport?
we used to park in long term parking, until they raised rates to $18/day. We try to get rides, but as a last resort, we pay for the parking.

Re: Getting to the airport?
Car service or taxi. I've also used the air train from Jamaica. I'm not far from my LIRR station and it's an easy ride if you don't have a lot of bags to lug around.
