Career Changers
Has anyone successfully changed their career after spending a significant amount of time in one career? If so, how did you go about switching?

Re: Career Changers
I did
last year I left corporate america- after 6 years and 4 years of FIT - for product development
my dream was to be a real estate agent (broker, investor etc) but you have to start somewhere
I took my real estate class over the summer
and then last week I started offically working-
had an open house on saturday
and I am getting contracts signed tonight!
I finally feel like I am doing what I am suppose to be doing- I have never felt better!
go for it

Re: Career Changers
I am in the process of doing this at the moment. I worked in accounting for many many years & hated it. Now I am going into the medical field just waiting to find out if I have been accepted into the program. I am very lucky I quit my dead end job over a year ago & have been going to college full time. Its the best thing I have ever done for myself. I couldnt have done it without of the support of DH.

Re: Career Changers
Left almost 15 years of corporate america to become a massage therapist.
The main motivation was the fear of layoffs constantly. I wanted a "back up" plan and be able to work where I wanted and as little or as much as I wanted.
I researched what I would be interested in. What was in demand. What "I" would want to do. My strength, my weaknesses, etc... Something that I could study while still working FT. Evening/weekend classes, etc...
