Cake at shower - a necessity?
I'm having a baby shower in Feb. and trying to plan the menu - its a buffet lunch. Dessert will also be a buffet. I have cheesecake, choco cupcakes, chocolate candies and...
do I need a cake decorated? or can I do a winter type cake (cranberry upside down cake) or chocolate cake that's not a "shower"cake? WDYT?

I'm such a sweets person - and I didn't have a cool cake at my bridal shower, so I totally wanted a crazy baby shower cake... but it's fine if you want to focus on all the other goodies!

I didn't have a cake at mine. I don't like cake and I hate when it's forced on me (my wedding, bridal shower, any time the in-laws are have a say in the matter because they just don't get it, etc) so I was happy to have a great selection of beautiful home made cookies instead!

I like having all different desserts..I am picky with cake..no fruit inside..needs to be buttercream icing..so for me I always go for the other goodies!
