extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
i did femara and follistim this cycle and produced 10+ follies. cycle was canceled but i do think i did ovulate on my own on tuesday (based on bbt charting it looks like i Oed).
so ever since about Monday i have been HUGELY bloated and uncomfortable. like horribly bloated so much that my stomach is distended. even when i wake up in the morning, its still huge. the bloating combined with the holiday eating is a very uncomfortable combo. last night i was so full AND bloated that i couldnt bend down and put my shoes on... im in for quite a ride when/if i do get a BFP..
anyway has anyone here experienced extreme bloating following either an overstimmed or medicated cycle?? when will it go away? if I O'ed when my chart looks like i did - it was on tuesday. should i still be THIS uncomfortable on friday??

Re: extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
I did meds with IVF. It took some time for the bloating to go away, even after the cycle was a BFN. I know I had to drink lots of fluids- Water, gatorade, and also needed metamucil. I would alway call the Dr though if you think it is abnormal.
Hope you feel better soon.

Re: extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
During this last cycle on meds, I was extremely bloated....looked like I was 5 months pregnant and couldn't wear any of my regular clothes. My supervisor even ask a coworker if I was pregant. My doc actually told me to avoid salty and spicy foods and to keep my drinking of ANY fluids to the bare minimum. It lasted for about 7 HORRIBLE days, but then I was back to my old size and original weight....it was sooo weird, but I did get a glimpse into how cute my belly Will look one day. It was bittersweet to look in the mirror and see that and dream, but then know it's not for the right reasons. Hopefully your bloating period will be over soon.

It is so odd the different things that Drs tell patients. PP was told not to drink and I was told I should drink fluid. Call your Dr and see what he wants you to do.

Re: extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
Dr told me to drink gatorade. He said it is important to urinate but not to get dehydrated at the same time...the bloat went away in about 2-3 days...

Re: extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
ok thanks everyone. i def feel better knowing that others felt like this too and that it should go away at some point (today is day6 of bloat). i totally agree with the PP about it feeling like carrying around bags of rocks in my ovaries. this morning i woke with a horrible backache too. im not sure if its from sleeping poorly due to the bloat, or if its some other weird symptom.
anyway i emailed dr. b about it on thursday and he said to come in today if i was still uncomfortable. but i think im going to try and wait it out til monday and hope that it goes away - only cause i doubt theres anything he can really do about it anyway that would necessitate me going in for an appt.
i did always hear that i should drink lots of fluids - however ive been drinking tons of water and even that hurts cause it just pushes my belly out more..
anyone know any other basic remedies??

Re: extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
I had extreme bloating once AF showed after my failed IVF cycle. The only thing that helped was drinking a lot, and trying to keep moving as much as possible. Try Motrin or Advil, both are anti-inflammatories and may help.

Re: extreme bloating from meds / overstimming
I had IVF and I was pretty bloated towards the end of my cycle and it was ridiculous after my retrieval. I gained 10 lbs of water in 1 day. Thankfully it got a little better each day. My cycle was Friday and by my retrieval on Wed I felt MUCH better. I think the acupuncture really helped me. I went on Monday and when i walked out i was starting to feel like a different person.
Hope you are feeling better. Definetely talk to your dr if its that bad!!
