Would you try to get your due date changed?
Okay, so my OB goes from the start of my LMP which is October 16th and my EDD is July 23rd. However, I KNOW that I did not O until CD23. When i went for my ultrascreen the baby was measuring at 11w4d instead of 12w4d so that pretty much proves my theory.
I know EDD is an ESTIMATE, but I am nervous that if I go a week past my EDD they will pressure me to induce. . . meanwhile I wouldn't even be passed my REAL EDD at that point.
Do you think this is something I should bring up NOW or deal with it if it comes up?

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I would let it be for now, they may decide to change it on their own.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I was thinking about this too. They always say woman go later, but I think they just go by the LMP which makes that seem like they are late. My mom said they even did that to her when she was pregnant with me, and she had me based on her date not the doctors. I am going to just deal with it when it comes up. Let me know if you talk to them.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I tried to have them change it to the date I was telling them, but they stood firm at going by the 1st sonogram's date. They said it is the most accurate.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I have the same situation but my EDD is a week later than what my real EDD should be (we also used an opk).
So far is breach and I'm nervous that b/c of the extra week that my scheduled c date will be too late and I'll end up going into labor and needing an emergency c.
I'm not getting my date for 2 weeks, so I am gonna wait for that appt. and then mention it.
If I were you, I would probably mention it right now- not only b/c of the EDD and induction thing (I would be nervous/bothered too if I was u) but also just to hash out the discrepancy in size- which I think is scrutinized a lot more during the first tri. It doesn't hurt to mention it to the Dr. and see what he does with the info.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I am the opposite I O earlier and had a short 23 day cycle. He gave me a DD after the first sono which is closer to my real cycle. I would definetly tell the DR. Mine asked about my cycle and I told him how many days it was and so on. Defiently tell him.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I think I will mention it at my next appointment. I am glad that I know this because otherwise I would have been very worried to see that the baby was a week behind - even though the ultrascreen doctor did not seem concerned by it and confirmed that it was b/c of how the EDD was calculated.
Thank you for answering!

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I have the same problem. I do not have "typical" cycles. I have been charting for 6 years now and I know exactly when I O. My Dr is going by my LMP, which puts their EDD 8 days earlier than it should be.
Like you-even my sonograms have been showing the baby's size in line with MY date. I tried to discuss it with the nurse, but she did not get it, so I let it go. I will bring it up with my Dr probably at one of my next visits. I am 31 weeks now and I too want to avoid the whole issue of induction b/c of being "past due"
I didn't push the issue before this b/c I realized if they fill out my leave form for work with their date, I'd get out earlier

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I am the same way...I my first OB appt I was told 4/11 and then when I went for the ultrascreen the sono tech told me 4/17, the baby is measuring behind. So we changed it to 4/17..then we went back for our regular appt and our OB said..NEVER change your EDD...keep it at what it was your first sonogram(4/11) soooo..yes it kills me..but its ok..closer to tax season being over for hubby!

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I know the exact dates of my IUIs and yet the doctor still insists on telling me I'm wrong about what my due date should be
Going of MC is also inaccurate for people with pcos.
But there is no correcting my doctors, they know everything
I'd mention it incase they want to say the baby is measuring behind at Level II.

I think it wouldn't hurt to mention it to them, but I think if baby keeps measuring a week behind and all else looks good, they will prob change the date anyway.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
Tilde, When i met with my dr. with Alex and this time as well, I told him that i KNOW when i ovulated and that was why the measurements were not always right.
There are due date calculators online that go by date of ovulation and yes, i would use that and discuss that with the dr.

When they did my sono they changed the due date according to the sono. I would talk to them about it.

Same here. Baby was measuring 6 days ahead at my 12-week sono and the sono tech said that would move my due date up a week...but then at my 16-week appt. my doc said nope, back to original due date b/c they go by the 8-week sono.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
i know every OB is different, but i never knew the exact date of my LMP. i mentioned this a bunch of times and i asked them to make sure that the EDD they were giving me matched up to the baby's gestational size vs my imaginary LMP date. they said that the dates coincided. i would just mention it to your OB everytime until he/she gets sick of you and changes it .

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I would let it go for now. If they try to pressure you to induce later on they have to do a sono and measure the baby and you will know then by the measurements if your ready to go another week!

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
i just seems to me that there are so many women who dont know when they ovulated and they or the dr could be wrong and it all works out in the end. Plus really.. whose due date is really that accurate when most are going days past that EDD. I would just let it be. also i could be wrong but ive heard of Drs adjusting your die date as you go through your pregnancy due to the size of the baby and ect,, no?
I would think that before they decide to induce they are going to go by how large/heavy the baby is amongst other things than JUST an EDD

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
I wouldn't worry-if it came down to it, you can absolutely refuse an induction if the baby is okay and your fluids are okay.
They might readjust your EDD if you have a few behind sonos.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
They like to know the date of you LMP, but they really go by the 1st sono for the most accurate measurement of how far along you are.
My dr had told me from the beginning, they would never induce unless there was a problem, until I was 2 weeks past my due date. I wound up going one week early.
If they tell you they want induce you, you can tell them you would like to see if you go on your own (my sis in law did this) like I said, unless there is a medical reason for it.
So, I would not worry now. You can always talk about it when it gets closer.

Re: Would you try to get your due date changed?
Are you sure they are basing it on your LMP? My doctor always bases EDD on the measurements at either my first or second sonogram (I can't remember and I had a lot of sonograms).
Speaking of which, I sent around an e-mail to some friends when I found out the sex of the baby. I said something about EDD and they all thought I was naming the baby Ed. Some of them called him that for the rest of my pregnancy because I was not telling names.

I'm shocked they didn't change your due date already. At my very first sonogram they changed mine because I was measuring a week behind what they thought I was.
