need nanny help fast please (some Qs)
For those that went through an agency please give some realistic figures on what it costs. What did you have to pay the agency and when? How much do you pay the nanny for how many hours? How many children? Does it depend on the # of children or is it a flate rate regardless of how many. I'm on LI in Nassau if that matters. We did a lot of research on Au pairs and then we changed our mind and decided we didn't feel comfortable with someone moving in with us. So now I don't know what to do and I don't want to do a ton of research if it's not w/in our budget.
feel free to fm if you don't want to post info

Re: need nanny help fast please (some Qs)
The agency I went thru charges me one week's salary and the nanny one week's salary. For a full-time live out nanny, I have seen salaries that range $550-$750 per week. Most pay salary and not hourly, unless you have under 40 hours per week.

My friend doesn't need his nanny after August so she'll be coming to work for us.
$650 a week, with 2 weeks paid vacation a year

Re: need nanny help fast please (some Qs)
I contacted an agency recently, I think named Parenting Plus, and the rate was $675. This was a one time charge, only if I hired one of their nannies. It didn't matter how many kids - the rate was based on the number of hours I needed the nanny to work. I interviewed 2 nannies - one I hated and one I really liked. HTH! You can also try care.com - its $30 for a month's access to hundreds of profiles and I found a GREAT nanny from there. I couldn't be happier.
Good luck!

I used sittercity.com for a position and got 50 applicants. I interviewed 5 great ones and hired one last week.
They do the background checks for you too. There's a fee, but I don't remember what it was.

My agency charged me one month's salary, but didn't charge the nanny anything. The way it worked was that you paid an hourly rate, and the nanny I chose wanted me to guarantee at least 40 hours. I was told the live-out rate was $12 - $15/hour. I only had one child at the time but now I have two so I increased her pay recently.

Re: need nanny help fast please (some Qs)
Thanks so much for the feedback. I've only been at PT worker since we had DC#1 so that seems like too much money for what I'm going to take in. But that helps to make the decision
