I wish my mom just had not told me

The other day I was telling my mother how I was dreaming about being in my Grandma's apartment. I dream about it atleast once a week. I was really attached to it, it was like a second home for us.

So my mother tells me that she heard from somene that the apartment was SOLD! Now my grandma rented it for 50 + years but now the apartments are co ops. I started hysterically crying. I don't want to know that someone else is living there.

I had the opportunity to see my grandfather's (who passed away) home (where my father grew up and my brother and I basically grew up) after someone purchased it. They gutted it and honestly, it was sad to see that all of the memories that were made were wiped away and replaced with stark white sheetrock. But at the same time the home can now serve as the place where a new family can make memories with their children and grandchildren, and so I'm hopeful for that.

Its hard when life moves on and we're not ready. I'm sorry its so hard on you. I hope you are able to find peace with it in your own time.

I just try to remember that it gives another family a chance to make memories together.
