I am thinking YES! They just said its going to be like a CATEGORY 1 HURRICANE until 2:00 AM or so with lightening and thunder mixed in with the heavy batches of snow...SOOO ODD! I guess it all depends if they can get the roads clear! I doubt I am going in though with it this bad since I live so far away.
They haven't given one hint as to when Bloomberg will speak and update the city, maybe on the 6:00 news?

I am thinking yes..if it will still be snowing/hurricane winds in the morning I doubt they will open....but then again you never know with the DOE

I have to say, it's looking ugly NOW as predicted and if it stays like this through early morning, nothing will be clean enough IMO..I mean, how much earlier can I get up and go in?!? I hate losing days for this, though!

I hope they close and it doesn't come to me having to just call out because the roads are still too bad to drive!
Sick days aren't meant for being sick or snowed in

Wow- could it be? I am supposed to take a small group of kids up to Lehman College and I really, really dread having to trudge through all the mess to the bus stop and then to the campus.
Otherwise, I won't mind. I take Metro North and the station is really close to my school. Where I live, it seems like we've gotten hardly any, but I just checked Waterspout4's link and it says that the NYC area is under a blizzard warning and might get 16 inches!

I would imagine even if there was school your Principal would postpone the trip--no? That would be dangerous !

Bloomberg will want to keep schools open. The bus companies will be the determining factor. They are waiting for the 5 o'clock forecast. I will not be driving tomorrow. Im pretty sure I'll be staying home regardless. I am not a DOE employee but we do follow their calendar and use their transportation.
