acne prone skin thread
I've battled with acne in many different degrees for a long time. I thought maybe we could start a thread where others with acne prone skin could share their favorite cleansers/make up products etc OR ask for advice. What do you think?
I really don't have much to share as far as fav products, except Eucerin SPF facial moisturizer! I love that stuff in the summer especially. it is very light and so it doesn't clog pores or cause breakouts.
Please share your faves and let's keep this thread going for those who need it (hopefully I'm not the only one!)

Re: acne prone skin thread
Even thought I get acne my skin tends to get dry in the winter. About 3 weeks ago I decided to use vaseline as my night time moisturizer. So I wash my face, use my acne serums and then no moisturizer and I just put a thing layer of vaseline. I was a little nervous because I was worried my skin would be oily and make me break out more but it hasn't. My skin has cleared up so much. It is also so soft in the morning that I don't use a moisturizer unless I took a shower in the morning.

Re: acne prone skin thread
Good thread... I'm prone to it too. Hate it!! Sometimes I'm clearer then others, but it always comes back. If my back is clear then my face will break out or vice versa.
I like Olay Sensitive with SPF for my moisturizer. Doesn't help clear my skin, but it does keep it moisturized. Neutrogena body wash doesn't do anything either.
I used to be on antibiotics that worked great, but since TTC I stopped. When I was prego my skin was great and now my back is breaking out and face is clear. Never ends

Re: acne prone skin thread
Acne prone here, since I was in HS it's a lot better now, as I have been on prescription meds for about 8 years.
The biggest problem I always had was with foundation and powder. I love the talc-free mineral powder foundation from Physicians Formula, I can use it every day and never break out from it.
Blush is also hard for me to use, so I am using PF blush now too.
I cannot use any salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cleansers because they dry out my skin instantly, so I stick to gentle cleansers like Cetaphil and Target Up and Up cream cleanser.

I have done this too in the winter. I usually just need to do it a few times during the winter, but in one night all dry spots disappear.

Re: acne prone skin thread
thanks for your responses ladies! I too have had success with neutrogena acne wash. I have to go back to that.
Can you recommend your foundation?? This is the hardest thing for me!

Re: acne prone skin thread
I'm 41 and still have acne. I have had the best results with the J&J Clean and Clear Advantage Acne line. I use the cleanser, moisturizer and spot treatment. I avoid using it around the eyes and use a really good eye cream.
My favorite foundation is Lorac Breakthrough Performance. It's oil-free and anti-aging.

Re: acne prone skin thread
I would also like to add to the thread that going to see a dermotologist can be the best thing that you do for your skin. I have suffered from cystic acne and "bacne" and sometimes it takes an Rx to really clear things up!

Re: acne prone skin thread
I went on BCP to control it and it helped out ALOT! I am now off of it and my face breaks out still, but not as bad as it used to.
I tend to use more natural stuff on my face and it seems to be helping, but I do use a salydic (sp?) acid wash. I go to the aesthetician at my dermatologists office and get mini facials and a microderm from time to time. I find it helps keep the break outs at bay for awhile.
I am trying to find a new foundation as well, so if anyone has any suggestions please post away!

Re: acne prone skin thread
I started the Neutrogena thing too, it seems to be working even better than the prescription meds the derm prescribed for me! I use Peter Thomas Roth moisturizer and the neutrogena lotion because my skin gets so dry from the wash and the weather!

Re: acne prone skin thread
What worked the best for me was washing with Neutrogena Rapid Clear, using Clindamycin in the morning, Retin-A in the evening. In the winter, I use Eucerin around my mouth at night for dry areas. I go to the dermatologist once a month for extractions.
