do you have a CVS card - or a similar card for another drug store? You can go in with your card and they will print out a lit of everything that you bought that year that can qualify.

and if you have had your contact Rx for a while - I would double up on them.

If later in your pregnancy, you have it like me-stock up Mylanta-I go through a bottle a week! Chat Icon

How about breast pads, diapers, tylenol, pads (for after delivery)?

your FSA plan doesn't provide a list of covered items? I would call them, and then scan the list for all items you use.

Might be worth looking into getting a gift card to Lens Crafters or another optical store. My friend did this a couple of years ago when she didn't quite spend what she had in her FSA. You can easily spend that $$ on a pair of glasses.

Maybe a new humidifier for the new baby? In ear thermometer? Aspirator? Also stock up on A&D, Desitin, Mylicon, Saline Spray, etc.

I would buy more contacts!!! Check with your eye doctor. I know that as long as I don't open mine and they haven't expired, I can exchange them if my prescription changes. Do you use saline for your lenses? Stock up on that. That can get expensive.

Do you need a new spare pair of eyeglasses? That's what I did last year - bought really nice glasses and used up all my flex spending!

I had many coworkers tell me that "babies are expensive. they are at the dr. all the time" and that it would be wasteful not to participate in FSA. They suggested an amount which far exceeded my needs. Now in my 2nd year with DS, I know how much I really spend so I adjusted accordingly.

Always start low low low, then slowly increase to meet your needs. Because if you find yourself constantly having to buy stuff just to use up everything in the fund, it becomes counter-productive and wasteful as you end up buying things you would have never purchased in the first place.

I would get a script for more prenatals and fill that...a LARGE script

If you're planning to get pg again pg tests are covered on some plans

LOTS of wipes

What about glasses or rx sunglasses?

Chat Icon You can always purchase big ticket items (health wise) and return them Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh, sneaky, but I like it!!

I buy something like a super fancy breast pump, get my money back, and return it, never opened, never touched.

No harm, no foul, right?

Thank you!!!! I may just end up doing that!!!!Chat Icon

I second that idea!! Love a good plan

Glasses are a good idea, maybe a pair of regular ones and transitions or sunglasses.

This is what I would do. My prescription hasn't changed in a long time.

I had a surplus a few years ago and was able to claim mileage to and from the doctors office & to and from the pharmacy. I just went back in my calendar for the entire year and mapquested the directions to find out how many miles I went for a certain appointment. The 2009 FSA reimbursement for mileage is .55 mile.

I ended up getting back a nice sum.

That's great to know. How did you document it? What did you have to show regarding how many trips you took and the proof?

Excuse my question but how are you eligible to make a purchase by 3/30/10?

I thought the program ended on each Dec 31 at the end of each year but you could submit your claims until the end of March the next year.

we have the same situation as the OP have 400 or so left to spend by March 1st.

OP thanks for posting this, it's giving me some ideasChat Icon
and what about an air purifier? should be covered. Even though DD's allergist said it's a waste of money, I think we are going to get one anyway.

I forgot I did this once also. I printed out the mapquest page that showed how many miles it was between my work/doctor and then doctor/home. then I just listed out all my appointments in a spreadsheet. It was tedious, but when you're pg it adds up.

The CVS website lists FSA eligible items. I found it helpful when I was in the same situation last year.
