Oily (greasy) Hair?

I have very oily hair but only at the crown of my head. If I wash my hair in the morning by the end of the night I start to notice it "sticking" to my head and then the next day it is even worse. I do not run my fingers through my hair so I know it is not caused by the oils in my hands. I can only go one day without washing my hair because of this and I would really like to wash it everyday but I know that is not healthy for your hair.

So my question is does anyone else have this problem and if so what shampoo/conditioner do you use to help resolve this problem?

Have you tried a dry shampoo on your roots only in between washing?
I have heard this works wonders on oily hair.

Johnson's baby powder works well too. I use it every other day between washing

its probably the type of hair that you have. my hair is very fine and not at all textured. (smooth, shiney, silky yadda yadda). I MUST shower and wash my hair everyday! Chat Icon

NO conditioner. It took me years to realize that the conditioner (either separate or in the shampoo) was making it worse.

I have to wash my hair everyday but at least I can go until the evening.

Re: Oily (greasy) Hair?

Is this a new problem and are you recently off the pill?

I ask because I noticed my hair gets SO MUCH greasier MUCH faster now that I am not on the pill!! Chat Icon I just use a regular shampoo but if it's really greasy I actually wash my hair with the shampoo twice before putting in conditioner. I also put in less conditioner than I used to. FYI- I wash my hair every 2-3 days and use a sulfate free shampoo.

Ugh I hate being greasy! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had the same problem...I started using Pantene Pro V Clarifying Shampoo and I would use a drop of conditioner.

So far so good!

That's a good question!! It was always a problem but I find that it has gotten worse since I came off the pill.

I should probably look into the sulfate free shampoo and conditioner because I have heard that it is good for your hair.

I hate being greasy too....lolololChat Icon

I have always had somewhat oily hair, but once I came off the pill it got alot worse! A few months later it eventually went back to being my normal oily self.

I use Klorane dry shampoo and wash my hair every other day. I also use baby powder when I run out of my dry shampoo

Try not to put conditioner by the root of the hair. It should be used for the ends. I also noticed that certain brands of shampoo and conditioners can weigh down my hair and make it greasier. I tend to stay away from garnier. Hope that helps.

Re: Oily (greasy) Hair?

i have that problem, only thing that worked for me is head and shoulders (for oily hair). Also, when conditioning hair, do not put conditioner at root.

Re: Oily (greasy) Hair?

OMG, I have the same problem, by the end of the day my roots look so greasy but the rest of my hair is normal or on the dry side. My hairdresser recommended Biolage Normalizing Shampoo. It balances normal to oily hair. I have been using it for about a month now and really notice a difference. I also use now the Biolage detangler light conditioner too and just use it on my ends.

This works!! I don't have oily hair, but fine hair, when I use too much product, I look like a greaseball. I use dry shampoo and it takes away all the greasiness and actually, my hair is even better b/c it adds volume.

Sulfate free is absolutely the way to go! Not necessarily for oil, but just for hair health in general. I noticed my hair has been MUCH healthier since switching to sulfate free for about a year now.. and my hair person noticed a difference too!!

I use a few different stuff. Let me know if you want some recs! Chat Icon
