Maternity Pics

Anyone NOT doing them?

I have no plans on doing them mostly because at 12wks I feel miserable. I don't know how I'll feel about my body down the line, but I just don't think I'm comfortable with my body being this way to want to photograph it.

Is that weird? Am I not normal for not liking what my body is morphing into everyday?

I LOVE my baby with all my heart, but its the massive changes in my body that are just making me feel so uncomfortable in my own skin.

I hate pics of myself before being pregnant, so I'm not doing it while I have a huge belly.

I'm not doing them. Not b/c I dont like the way I look...I actually love it so far at 25 weeks. but b/c I just dont know what I will really do with them. I booked a newborn shoot and opted against doing maternity pics.

I think you will get used to your pregnant body, it DOES take some time. It is still early on so you are not used to the changes I am sure. even though I like my body, I DO feel huge but I just tell myself I am supposed to be this way and it's b/c I have a healthy baby growing inside me..KWIM?

I'm not doing pro pics. I have taken a bunch of pics w/ my own camera but don't plan to do anything specific with them.

nah, i dont mind my changing body but i see no need to take special pictures

i think its more fun to look at regular family pictures and remember "oh i was x weeks pregnant at Christmas!"

Im doing it since its a package deal with the photographer to get both maternity and newborn.

Its twins, so I expect to be HUGE and its something to have and have my DD in them too.

I am 20 weeks and I have yet to take one picture of me while I am pregnant! I have no desire to do maternity pictures. Like a few other girls have stated, I would rather spend the money on a newborn photo shoot.

I am not doing them...not comfortable with my body. I don't mind the way I look being PG, but I have never really been comfortable in my body...everyone thinks I am crazy, but I hate wearing bathing suits too.

I'm not doing them. I haven't even done my own belly pics, and hate all other pictures that are taken of me lately. I feel like I just don't look like myself.

Im not- I just dont feel comfortable because of the weight gain so far. I Have extreme body issues so I dont want to stir anything up...

I'm not doing them. I think that they seem like a good idea at the time "let me capture this special moment because it's the only time I'll look like this" but after the pregnancy you think "uhhh what do I do with all of these photos of my belly with a bow on it?"

Do them - I totally regret it. I'm not saying hire someone if you aren't comfortable but go out to a beach or park or something and take a few nice shots of yourself as a memory.

Pregnancy photos don't necessarily mean you have to do bare belly. Just wear a tight fitted shirt, something you feel comfortable in.

I didn't do them with my kids and now that they're old enough to understand that they were in my belly, they LOVE to see pics and I regret that I have nothing.

I'm all for them - I actually like my body better when I'm pregnant than when I'm not. I'm not so critical of myself, despite referring to myself as a house most days.

I don't think it's unusual that you don't feel comfortable with your body right now - a lot of women feel like that.

Like Lori said, maternity pics don't have to be all about the bare belly pics you see here.

I wouldn't do them even if I LIKED being pregnant and having a belly because my thoughts are- what would I do with these?
I'd rather spend the money on pictures of the newborn- people would much rather see that than my big old belly!


And then there is the issue of my hang up about this whole thing- I wont' even look in a mirror when I'm bare belly anymore. I barely want to touch it in the shower. I don't want my husband to touch me or look at me naked. I am extremely grossed out by the sight and thought of me with a belly.
It's been a huge issue since I started to get one. I have a massive body issue with this that I do not see myself getting over.

If I can wear something that hides any sign of being pregnant I do...
So maternity shots are TOTALLY not for me!

I am not doing a professional photoshoot, like others have said I think it's better spent on a newborn shoot.

I will probably have DH or a friend take some pics though when I actually have a belly to speak of. Perhaps when it's nicer out at a park or something.

I was dead set against it, but then a friend of mine just posted hers and she looks beautiful. They are so wonderfully done and definitely something I would look at.

It'll depend what I look like/feel like in 4 or 5 more months, but seeing how beautiful hers were convinced me to consider it.

I am doing them, DESPITE the fact that I really don't like how I look pregnant! I have never felt quite this unattractive, to be honest, but I think it's a beautiful time and I'd like to have some memories of it. If I could only do one, I would only do the newborn shoot, but I am doing both the maternity pics and the newborn shoot. I am hoping my photographer finds a "good" angle for me and that my face somehow looks more normal and less prego-bloated in the pics, lol!

I did them because they came as a package with the newborn pics. Also, it took us awhile and alot of work to get prego so I'm not 100% sure if I'll ever be able to get pregnant again. Therefore, I wanted to cherish this moment and have something as a memory of it.

Once I hit 6 months and the belly got nice and round- I fell in love with it! I love looking at it and touching it. So I had no issue with it being photographed.

We plan to get a three photo frame and put 3 pics from the maternity pics in them for the nursery- one of me and DH, one of my belly silhouette and one of me, DH and our dogs.

But your not abnormal for not wanting them- it's a total person preference.

I have someone who offered to do them. He is a professional photographer looking to expand his portfolio and isn't going to charge me. I am seriously thinking about it. I told him I will let him know when I am close to the end.

I am chubby to begin with and for the first time in a long time I feel good about my body. I love the changes it is going through and would love to have them professionally documented.

My issue is that I am normally a behind the camera person. We shall see how I feel in a couple of months. I really hope I don't chicken out!

We are using the money for newborn pics.

Nobody wants to look at pictures of a pregnant women, they'd all rather look at a cute baby.

So we thought why pay for something that will never see the light of day.
