Parking in the Street
I don't understand....
When we went for the hearing on our Mother-Daughter application...we were asked many, many times if we have off-the-street parking for our 3 cars. We said "yes" many, many times...
A house on our block has 6 cars. Overnight, three are parked in their drive way and 3 are parked in the street (sometimes in front of our house).
Because the 3 cars were parked in the street, the snow plow could not plow up to the curb. So, my DH had to shovel the snow in the street so we could get out cars out of the drive-way.
Vent over!!!!

Re: Parking in the Street
You aren't wrong. While annoying, we can't control who parks in the street in front of our houses. People always say, when you buy the house you don't buy the street in front of it. It irks me when other cars park in front of my house but other than looking at the window and rolling my eyes, there isn't anything I can do.

Re: Parking in the Street
Well if you are allowed to park on the street then you can't really complain about them. Unless there is a sign for no parking during snow emergency, unfortunately there is nothing you can do.

Re: Parking in the Street
completely understand how you feel. we have a permit for our apartment in our house and we have to have off the street parking for 4 cars and we do. but our neighbor has 6 cars and there is always one of their cars in front of our house. very annoying. and they are nice neighbors too, but I do find this annoying when it snows because sometimes if all the cars aren't off the street, then the plow doesn't come close enough because they can't. welcome to homeownership.

Re: Parking in the Street
I guess it bothers me more than it normally would because we had to make sure that we had off-street parking for ALL our cars, if we wanted our mother-daughter application approved.

That is how I feel about our permit for the apartment. We even had to take pictures with four cars in our driveway to prove we could fit 4 cars before they would give us the permit. But this happens everywhere. I've just given up being annoyed about it really at this point. I told DH we are getting a snow blower next year.

Re: Parking in the Street
my next door neighbor has a driveway that fits 3 cars. His car has been snowed in from the plows since the last storm in front of his house and his mack truck of a Chevy Avalanche is currently parked in front of my house while his driveway is EMPTY. Explain that!

Re: Parking in the Street
that stinks! i guess people like your neighbors are the reason it gets so difficult to get a mother-daughter permit. good luck!

Re: Parking in the Street
Totally understand your frustration. I have a corner lot,we could probably fit 10 cars. We have a single family, and own 2 cars. However, there is always numerous cars/trucks/work vans RIGHT in front. Our new neighbor has his extended family living with him and has 7 cars in a one family house with NO garage.
I curse them. Literally.
Every time I pull up to my home. I have no idea, why this infuriates me the way it does. I lived in Queens 30 yrs, I have circled around blocks half my life looking for alternate side parking, when I bought my home I thought of the parking as a perk, I guess I feel entitled LOL I'm getting angry just writing this, LMAO I really should let this go. haha GL !

Re: Parking in the Street
The house next door to ours is rented and the owner runs an elevator business out of it, so there are about 6 cars all day long all over the street, plus cars & trucks constantly delivering or dropping something off. We asked him not to have his employees or tenants park in front of our house, if we knew that he was going to rent the house and use it at a business a year ago when we bought the house we never would have bought it. This belongs on Sunrise highway!!!!
