When to share the good news?
So I just got my BFP...literally today! AF is due Thursday, so I'm holding my breath for lots of sticky dust and that AF STAYS AWAY!!
Anyway, DH is already harassing me on when we can share the news? I would like to wait until 12-14 weeks until the 1st trimester is basically over and I'm starting to show. A friend waited until 14 weeks and said it was the worst thing ever and they only did to share it with her family on Christmas and she would never do it again...
...so assuming my BFP sticks ...what did you girls do? How long did you wait?

Re: When to share the good news?
We told our parents/siblings & Best Friends the week I got my BFP, but I was already 7 weeks (LOL, took me a while to realize I didn't get AF)
then we told close family & friends at about 10 weeks.

Re: When to share the good news?
we waited til way after the first tri. my mom/dad are out of state and we wanted to do it in person.
so we waited until thanksgiving which is when we saw my dad and mil (i was nearly 20w i think).
we told my mom and my close friends a few weeks before that...but im prolly not the norm for waiting so long
we were also busy so it was easy to avoid seeing ppl

Re: When to share the good news?
I told my family around 8.5 weeks because I couldn't hide my belly and sickness! I told everyone else after my 12 week sono... and this is also when I told my family I am having twins.

Re: When to share the good news?
This is such an individual decision! I know people that told everyone the day they got their BFP. I know others who waited until after their first trimester was over. I even know someone who waited until she was SIX MONTHS pregnant to tell (she had a previous loss and was nervous).
For us, I wanted to wait until the first trimester was over, or at least until around 12 weeks. But we told our parents after our first appointment when we saw the heartbeat and got our sonogram pic. I also told my two very close friends then.
Everyone else we told at 12-14 weeks.

Re: When to share the good news?
We told close family and friends around 6-8 weeks. DH is still hesitent to tell other people and I'm already 14 weeks. I'm DYING to spread the news to anyone else who will listen.

Re: When to share the good news?
For DS we told our parents and siblings at 9 weeks, and work, fam friends, extended fam around 12+ weeks. (I told my closest friends RIGHT away!!!!!)
For this one, we told earlier. We had to tell DH's parents for certain reasons pretty miuch right away...and we told my family at 8 weeks because se we were all together and that might not happen for a long long time. I am not sure when I'm going to share the news with everyone else.... maybe after my next appointment at almost 11 weeks.... I'm not feeling as private about it this time for some reason.
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!

Re: When to share the good news?
I told my Mother at 5 weeks after the doctor confirmed it. I am 7 weeks on saturday and I haven't told anyone else yet. I will tell my father after we hear the heartbeat which will be at week 8, then everyone else we will tell after 12 weeks.

Re: When to share the good news?
we told immediate family right away, after the first sono at 5.5 weeks (we had to go through IVF to conceive so they knew what was going on, we pretty much HAD to share).
Everyone else, after my 12 week ultrasound.

Re: When to share the good news?
I'm an exception. We waited a LONG time.
Told our IMMEDIATE family (moms, dads, sisters, etc) when I hit 12 weeks.
I didn't even tell anyone at work (except a few close friends) until after my amnio results came back- close to 20 weeks.
I'm a werido though- I'm just very uncomfortable with telling people. Not sure why...

Re: When to share the good news?
It's such a personal decision. everyone has their own timeframe and reasons for why they wait or don't wait.
For DS # 1, we waited till 12 weeks to tell everyone, family, friends, work.
For DS#2, we kinda just sporadically mentioned it to whoever we saw when we felt like it. Work I waited till 16 weeks.

I told my mom the day I found out. My grandmother was told at 6 weeks for her birthday present. The rest of the family was told at 9-10 weeks.
