if you have had a chemical, please come in..
after a stark white BFN internet cheapie strip just now - im mentally preparing for my beta tomorrow - since the chances are def good that im having/had a chemical... what does that really mean??
i know the technical part of it - egg didnt implant fully, chromosomal abnormalities..etc..
but what happens next? i am 17-18DPO so AF is already late. TMI i have creamy CM today with no spotting or anything close. does the HCG just go down on its own and i eventually get AF?
my temp spiked this morning higher than its been this entire cycle. will that just go down and AF will come?
any advice from those that have BTDT would be awesome.

HCG levels kept going down daily and AF eventually came with a vengeance! It was pretty horrific....I'm sorry

well on the bright side at least i had fair warning that it could be a chemical..id rather it be this way than get a +HPT and think there was no issue.. at least my beta is so low to begin with that i know theres a HUGE chance that it doesnt work out.
but def not looking forward to confirmation of that - or of AF with a vengence....

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
It really depends on the HCG levels.
My chemical after my first IVF my beta was a 49 which we knew wasn't very good based on the scale my RE wanted to see.
It took almost 6 weeks for my beta levels to drop, I got AF or rather began to miscarry the day one of my repeat betas was at 5. I was also not allowed to cycle again until my beta was 5 or below.

I got AF right on time after my first IUI and didn't even know at first that I had a chemical until my RE did CD3 bloodwork in preparation for my second IUI cycle. On CD3 it was really low...just above 5, if I recall. 2 days later it was well under 5 and I started my meds for my next IUI cycle. (Chemically it was like I was really day 3). I was nervous about having that couple of day delay and wondered if I could possibly even have any success the next month. My RE assured me that I could try again and sure enough... I got my BFP on my second IUI cycle!

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
I had a chemical before I got pregnant with my son. AF was 1 week late. I had a positive on a "pregnant / not pregnant" digital test. Two days later, I tested again and it said "not pregnant". My HCG went down below 5 and the sono didn't show anything. AF arrived 2 days later. I got pregnant with my son 2 months later.

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
Two of my girlfriends had chemicals and although they tested positive with the HPT's within under a week of those tests they were testing BFN and they got AF. You usually will get AF fairly quickly with a chemical. Most people who have a chemical wouldn't even have known they are pregnant and would've gotten a late period and thought nothing of it. I would imagine AF will show up within a day or so for you.
I am so sorry this wasn't your month. I hope things go better next cycle.

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
Thanks everyone. I tested again bfn this morning and had some brown spotting this morning which could def be the start of af. So def not expecting much from my beta this morning. I had some red spotting at like 13 and 15dpo so I know I'm not totally out yet... but I'm and not too hopeful at this point.

Yes you will probly get your period any day since your beta was 5. There could be a change of an ectopic too, do you have any side pain? If the level goes uo a little and then back down thats a side...most likely you will just get AF any second now...I was able to try again that next cycle...

Actually I have noticed some ovary pains that feel sorta the way it feels when your follies are growing, sorta like twinges. If it was ectopic but I get af does that mean it resolved itself or would I need to go to the doctor?

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
I had a chemical at the beginning of January. When I was tested my beta was 16. That test was done on a Wednesday. By Saturday my beta was down to 0. I got my period two days after that. I agree with the PP, AF came with a vengeance. I had cramps like never before. But I was happy that she came rather quickly. I had an ectopic back in September and it took about 6 or 7 weeks for my beta to drop down to 0.
Good luck and to you.

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
I had a CP in November. In a span of a weekend I had 3 line tests come up positive and 3 digital tests come up pregnant on a Friday night. Then I tested with FMU on Saturday and Sunday and both days I got a BFN. I went to the doctor on monday and they did a urine in the office that came up BFN. I knew it would because when I peed in the cup I could see bits of AF (sorry for the TMI). Then AF came with a vengence about an hour later.
This month I was a few days late and I tested with FRER and I kept getting faint lines. Then I went to the doctor on a Weds and the urine test came up BFN but I also had them do the blood test. The next day the blood test came back and my level was an 11 so the doctor said it was really early or it was going to be a CP. Sure enough I had brown spotting on Friday night and woke up in the middle of the night with terrible cramps. The cramps lasted through most of Saturday. AF arrived when I woke up Saturday morning but it was kinda weird. It was globby...so I know that it was def. a CP. The other weird thing is that AF only lasted from Sat through Monday....which is fairly short. I don't know if that means anything but I am not going to let it stop me from trying again this month.

that's exactly what happened to me. I only knew that i even had one because i started going to the RE that month and went in for what i thought was CD2 testing. My hormone levels were higher than they should be and they said it was because i had had a chemical. They went down over the course of the next 4 days and AF was normal as well.

I just had an ectopic that my RE caught very early (5 weeks). The symptoms for an ectopic are low betas that go up but do not double, low progesterone and a thin uterine lining. I thought i had a chemical at first. Got 1 day of AF, went in for CD3 blood work to start clomid again and beta was 41. But my progesterone was very low (never had a problem) and my lining had pretty much shed. Within a few days, I got pretty bad cramps and pain on my left side. I also got some red spotting. My beta kept rising but nothing in the uterus so I was disagnosed with ectopic. Sometimes they resolve themselves. You have to wait for the beta to determine that though. So sorry you are going through this

Re: if you have had a chemical, please come in..
I had taken 3 tests, one extremely faint positive, the other 2 def positive (1 was a digital). After 3, I didn't take anymore because I assumed "I must be PG!" Had different cramps than usual, metallic taste, exhausted..overall did not feel like myself. Then 4 days into it, I felt like myself again, no cramps at all - I thought something was up. Sure enough, pink spotting that night and AF in full force the next morning. AF was only 2 days late though.
I am really sorry if this is happening to you. Feel free to FM me if you need.

I didn't realize that AF after a chemical is typically "globby?" Mine DEFINITELY was and I thought it was so weird. AF last cycle was completely different than usual. Thanks for the info.
