Having difficulty staying positive
So, for background.. .we started seeing an RE in January and it took a combo of pills, injects, and several weeks to find the right dose for me to produce two nice follies.
We finally did and I was feeling SO optimistic!!! We decided to do an back to back IUI this cycle, which brings us to today.
I had my first IUI today and will have my second one tomorrow. For whatever reason, I started to feel down about my chances I don't know why........ maybe I'm just afraid of not getting a BFP and trying to prepare myself, even though it's SO early on!! A part of me is in disbelief that there's a possibility I could be pregnant in two weeks that I just feel like this probably won't be it for us
I need some encouragement... but not too much, because like I said, I'm afraid of gearing myself up and then being disappointed!

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
You are an amazing person and you have been through a lot with the injections and everything. I want you to still stay strong- especially right now.
Look at the bright side... you have been able to get to an RE, got the right medication to produce some good follies and already have an IUI done so early on. There's a lot that has been done very quickly
I dont want you to be sad because this should be an exciting time for you right now... you are getting those "little guys" all up in there to find your egg Just think...tomorrow they'll be even more to go around to get a chance to grab that egg.
I wouldn't want to be too optimistic, but I want you to enjoy this time too. You have waited for this moment for a while and the time has come to get into the 2WW....trust me it really stinks- but at least you'll be in it
If you aren't preggo, there's next month as well I have looked down and seen AF and cried and cried... but I started to realize that everything happens for a reason and maybe the timing wasnt right. I still get upset when I see AF, but when I O and when Im in the 2WW I think there's nothing else I can do.... its all up to the man upstairs
I want you to go in there tomorrow excited and SMILE!!! This is a happy time for you and your DH. You will get your little bundle of joy soon

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
You need to stay positive and that doesn't mean that you need to be obsessively thinking that you are pregnant It means that you need to do anything that you can to be happy and stress free, like have a massage, watch your favorite movies, go shopping, read a book, work-out etc. Don't obsess over thinking about getting pregnant all the time because you'll only be stressing yourself out. You need to be happy Feeling happy can do amazing things for your body You are doing the best that you can Here's a big hug for you to let you know that you're not alone and that there are many of us that share your feelings Good Luck

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
i have a realllly good feeling about this for you. i really think your chances are great!! think about it - its only your first cycle with an RE and you are ovulating!!! it took me 4 months to get to that point - you are doing GREAT!!
even if you dont get a BFP at least you know what it takes to get there - meaning that you have as good a shot every month now as any "traditional" TTCer! and with the IUIs and possibility of multiple eggs - your chances of actual fertilization and implantation are evern BETTER than the average TTCer!!
anyway keep your head up - you are on the right track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
Thank you SO MUCH everyone!! You all make great points and have great insight!
It's funny, I was feeling so positive this ENTIRE TIME until some point this afternoon! I think it's because it finally hit me that I want this to happen beyond words can express... and the possibility that it might not happen (this time, anyway) got me feeling down .... This is my first REAL opportunity to have a baby, I still can't get over the reality that I just may be pregnant in two weeks.
I think it also hasn't sunken in because I haven't felt anything yet. (well, I'm not even any dpo yet, so of course I haven't felt anything........) but I think once I start over-analyzing boob pain, tiredness, and nighttime bathroom runs, I'll start to feel more positive....
Thanks again ladies!!!

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
Well you are definately in the right place posting about this!!!
i felt the same way after my IVF cycle... i was very confident that i was preggers (hey im only 26 which plays a huge role in this) and well guess what... i did in fact get pregnant but ended up miscarrying a few weeks into my pregnancy... I was devastated and feeling just as upset... but you learn as time goes to heal and move on.. I hope that you dont have to go through that and this is it for you but know that if its not... its not the end... you gotta just keep going and when the time is right it will all work out for you!!! hang in there!!

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
I'm not as far into the whole program as you but I also tend to be pessimistic to prepare myself for the worst. I guess it's a defense mechanism. Just try to get your mind off of it. Great things will happen for you at the end. In the meantime, post as many comments on this board as you feel needed to let us help you get through this! We are all here for you......you'll be in my prayers!!!! Here's some for you.

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
It's harder in the beginning.
My background: after 3 IUIs (and 4-5 total cycles of treatments), I did IVF with a final BFP.
My 1st IUI, I had all the hope in the world. I had 2 follies...and thought: twins. I was heartbroken when it didn't work.
My advice is: your body wants to get your hopes up in the beginning, but it's better if you don't. After a while, you fall into a "pattern" of things.
Good luck. Remember, this is a journey & you can't see how far ahead the finish line is... but it's out there.

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
Thank you everyone!!
I'm thinking the best way to go through with this is to try not to think about it! This is my very first time in the 2ww and I never imagined how frustrating it would be!! I just have to keep reminding myself how lucky I am to have come this far, after not being able to O on my own!!

Try not to get to worried!! Think about the positives and that one day you will have a baby! I know it's easier said than done....I go through this every month during the 2ww. (I guess i don't take my own advice). LOL

Thanks! I know I haven't been 'in the game' as long as many of the people on here.. but it's still so frustrating!!
I'm trying to look forward to other things and not think about the 2ww.... I hope this week goes by quickly. I usually have RE appts like 2-3 times a week which really makes the time FLY .. now my week is pretty much open so I feel like the time is going to pass so slow... ahh

Re: Having difficulty staying positive
I do the same thing most of the time. It's how I "protect" myself. Try to find something to do to keep you busy and maybe take your mind off of it. Good Luck
