Small Apartment people
If you are in a small apartment - 1 bedroom can you please show me what crib you are getting?
We thought we wanted the Stokke. We saw it at BBB, loved it & it was perfect.
The past couple of weeks I'm just double thinking the price of the crib, plus the mattresses, plus the bedding. It comes close to $2000.
Thats just ridiculous IMO for a crib.
So I need to see other options. It needs to be a smaller sized crib. I prefer open on all sides & the same height on all sides, since it will be at the foot of our bed.
TIA

Re: Small Apartment people
BBB has some great options - we considered it for DS even though he has his own room. I believe it was $300 or $400 or so. (in store, not online)

Re: Small Apartment people
Hi, we live in a 1 bedroom. We converted our walk in closet into a nursery. We ordered the Alma crib from giggle.com We got it in white. It fit perfectly. We also ordered the mattress from giggle. We bought sheets, waterproof mattress pads, etc from buy buy baby. You get cradle size instead of crib size. The crib came fully assembled, we just added the wheels and it has 2 positions, high and low. Lasts until baby is 24 months. Hope this helps!

Re: Small Apartment people
I totally recommend wheels and light frame.
We were lucky enough to have parents buy us the stokke sleepi, we put right smack in the middle of a nook in our bedroom and it looks like it belongs. I got an organic cotton bumper on e-bay and just bought sheets. Saved a ton on the organic bedding set. Going to use those pee pee pads under the sheet instead of mattress protector.
If we were buying it ourselves, we would stay practical and get the ikea crib, if I remember correctly baby bargains or some other rating book rated it high in safety and value.
The Ikea mattress are still costly and I didn't find the quality very good. Get that somewhere else.

Re: Small Apartment people
I have a small 2 bedroom house and DS and DC #2 will share a room. We're thinking about getting a small crib from BBB. They had a nice selection of smaller cribs that still looked nice and felt sturdy.

Re: Small Apartment people
Sabrina,
We were living in a one bedroom when Michael was born and I was thinking about getting that crib as well but you know what, its not worth the $$. Get a smaller frame convertible crib that you can later convert to a toddler bed (you can take off the front rail) and that you can use as a frame for a full bed later on when DC has his/her own room.
And honestly, at the beginning, don't even put up the crib. I had the co-sleeper next to my bed for the first 3 months.

Re: Small Apartment people
Thanks everyone for your advice.
I forgot about Ikea sellng baby furniture, will have to look into that.
Someone else suggested a co-sleeper for the first couple of months - we may have to think about that a bit more.
So many decisions to make.

Re: Small Apartment people
We a graco crib very similar to this one & are in a small 1 br...when DS was born, we didn't have the crib yet, he was in the PnP bassinet, right next to our bed; once he was getting too heavy for it we ordered the crib from Target- it was like $175.00 & now he's in it as a toddler bed. DH & I now sleep in the living room & DS #1 & DS to be will have the bedroom.
