Work from home?
My kids are now almost 4 years and 18 months. I'm not ready to go back to teaching full-time, but we need extra money. I've seen ads for "work from home," but my husband thinks they are scams. Does anyone have any suggestions on work I can do to earn exta cash (besides tutoring)? Thanks!

Re: Work from home?
Since your background is in education, maybe you can get a job working for an agency with people with disabilities. I know the program I work for hires for positions called Independent Living Skills Trainers. It's PT and often flexible enough to be provided in the late afternoon, early evenings or weekends.
Some agencies to check out on Long Island:
RES TBI Services The Center for Family Support F.R.E.E.
You may be able to find something flexible in a group home too.
YAI is also a wonderful agency.
I also have worked a lot with UCPN and UCP Suffolk.
ACLD is another agency that comes to mind.
ETA: The jobs I am thinking of obviously are not work from home though.

Re: Work from home?
My sister is a CPA but once she had kids she decided to be a SAHM but still needed some side cash. For about a yr now shes been selling Arbonne and she really loves it. If you have any intrest in health, beauty, skin care...I can give you her # and see if this is something you would like. She makes some nice $ and truly enjoys selling it bc she loves their products.
FM me if this is something you may want too explore!

Re: Work from home?
I work in advertising... so, I know first hand that a lot of the work at home ads out there are scams. Most of them will try to sell you a kit and they promise you "guaranteed" results. If you have to buy anything to get started... it is usually a scam or it isn't very profitable.
My friend is a SAHM and supports herself solely by selling Partylite. So, I think that would be a good suggestion.
My cousin tried the Arbonne thing when she was laid-off. It didn't work out for her because she couldn't get anyone to buy the products.

Re: Work from home?
my sister does sales from home. She works for a software company and they set her up on her computer and she can do everything from home. A few times a year they have ehr travel for a night or two to attend a conference where she has to work their table. Otherwise its all from home. I think a lot of the ads on job boards are scams though. Or they don't pay enough to actually amke them worthwhile.
