Kind of a Dumb Question
I live in the city, so we rarely drive- we do have a car though. I am off from work on Thurs & have some final odds & ends to do. I'll be 37 weeks 5 days on Thurs. When I lived on LI, I remember pregnant friends not driving at that point in their pregnancy, but they were kind of "princess-y" girls. Are we allowed to drive this far along? Could I go to NJ (abt 30 min away) or LI to go to BuyBuyBaby, Target & Old Navy alone?

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
I think if you feel up to it, there is no set time that you HAVE to stop driving. I would stop if I was having some early labor signs though - don't want to have to drive myself to the hospital

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
I drove right up until the end.
In fact, I drove myself to the hospital the night I checked in to be induced!

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
Our lamaze teacher told us after 36 weeks you shouldnt be driving. They should have NEVER told DH this, bc now he is crazy about it. I am 36 weeks now
I will be driving until I pop(unless DH hides my keys)

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
I am 37weeks and plan on driving until I give birth.
Not sure why anyone would stop unless they couldn't fit behind the wheel anymore...

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
I drove up until the bitter end. In fact, I drove myself to the hair salon the morning I gave birth!

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
Well I plan to work until the end, so that will involve me driving. I can't afford to sit home on my arse and waste days off of my non paid maternity leave just because I hit 36 weeks and something magically makes me incapable of driving on that date.

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
Thanks everyone! I couldn't see why they all stopped, wasn't sure what magically happened at 36 or 37 weeks.

Re: Kind of a Dumb Question
I plan to drive as long as I am comfortable doing so, or if for some reason my doctor tells me not to. Right now at 27 weeks I am scared towards the end I might not fit behind the wheel. I am so short, and my belly is getting so big.
