how long did you wait to tell people

you were preggo? just curious!

i would like to wait the full 3 months to tell family and extended friends...dh wants to tell family and close friends right after hearing the hearbeat (which is what my doc said is okay to do)

i was just curious as to what you ladies did

we told our immediate families after our first OB appt. at 6w5d.

Friends we told at around 12 weeks+

Work I told at 17 weeks.

13 weeks. We told my mom but that was it.

I'm wondering this too since I have my first appt on Friday. I'll be 8 weeks. I might just tell my family and close friends, and wait until the 12 weeks to tell people at work - that is if I can continue to conceal the belly. This is my second so i feel like i'm already popping a little - probably just bloat, but it's not really going away!

I waited till about 10 to 12 weeks to let everyone know.

I am 13 weeks tomorow and we just told all extended family this weekend, let me tell you it was very hard! but we just wanted to make sure everything was good.

I told my parents a week after i found out since they were on vacation as weel as my sis, and DH's family.


I feel sooo relieved!!

My daughter told my husband & I, her in laws and her husbands sister & brother in law as soon as she got the pregnancy confirmed by a beta test by Dr. Braverman. She went to her ob yesterday (6w1d) and saw & heard the heartbeat. Her dr. told her to wait 3 more weeks till the next sono, just to be sure. He said up to the point of seeing heartbeat risk of miscarriage is 15%. After that it goes down to 4%. So they're waiting till after the 9 wk sono....... Congratulations to everyone!

Told family and closest friends on Thanksgiving (10 weeks). Work - about 13 weeks.

I was 10 weeks, close to 11 before we told anyone, including our parents. We told them on Thanksgiving, we were going to wait until Christmas, but there was no way we could have held out that long. We wanted to make sure everything was on track before saying anything. My parents have been asking for grandkids for years, my dad didn't care if we even got married he just wanted the grandkids!

ETA: I waited the full 3 months to tell work.

*sigh* i dont know what to do! dh really wants to tell our parents after the appt next week when we will be able to hear a heartbeat...im trying to compromise here

as much as it will kill our parents, i guess we can ask them to keep it quiet until mothers day and then we can tell the extended family then (that was my original plan to tell EVERYONE-including parents)

some of our close friends already know bc dh wanted to tell his close friends...i think i will tell my close friends after hearing the heartbeat, but wait to tell extended friends/fb until mayish

We told our parents around 6 weeks b/c we live out of state, and were going to be visiting. We wanted to wait to hear the heartbeat, but wanted to tell them in person more. Then we swore them to secrecy until after we heard the heartbeat. After our 9week appt/sono we told the rest of the family. However, we told BIL/FSIL, and my BFF right after I peed on the stick. Lol.

I told my parents and my brother two days after I tested positive at home (but we were going through IF treatments), and than we told the rest of our families when we got back our second beta. Close friends at 6 weeks, and the rest of our friends at 10 weeks.

I have a really big mouth & no will-power what-so-ever. About 5 minutes .
Honestly w/ my 1st son, I called one of my closest friends right after getting my bfp & it turned out a friend of ours had called her a few weeks before with the HPT in her hand. When I got the bfp this pregnancy, I texted her, "soo, I'm standing in my bathroom holding a preg test...."

WE told immediate family at 8 weeks
We told friends at 12 weeks
But like another poster stated.....I am almost 24 weeks and there are still people at my work that do not know (I am not really showing yet) - I work in several different school settings and I am waiting for people to notice or ask.

We told our families and close friends at 6 weeks, after the first sono. I told work at 12 weeks and the rest of our friends a few days after that.

I told my mom and sister at around 7 weeks.
The rest of our immediate family we told at 10 weeks at a family part. Then friends were told at 12.

immediate family we told right after the heartbeat...close friends we told around 2 weeks later...i think everyone else was around 10 or 11 weeks...except work

We told our parents/siblings almost instantly. One or two friends know as well. (Oh, I'm just past 7 wks) For me, I can't IMAGINE holding onto that news for three months. As it was, I miscarried my last pregnancy (and had told parents, siblings and the same very few friends) and I was so grateful for all the support I had. Also, my first appt. is tomorrow and I have a lot of people praying for me now!!

In the next week or two I'll probably begin telling more people...

told our parents after the 9w appt; siblings at 12 weeks; close friends at 13 weeks; all others, just this last week. (we're almost at 26w )

We told family at 6 wks because it was christmas, otherwise we would have waited a little longer. Told work at 8 wks because of MS. Slowly started telling very close friends between 8-12 wks. Started telling everyone at 12 wks
