Mom's with girls that have curly hair
DD is 15 mos and she constantly looks like she came in from a windstrom Her hair is all over and as much as I brush it it's a mess..she's curly mainly in the back but the top is starting to curl now too...she was cursed with my hair...What do you do to keep it in place, anything you can put in it???

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
I don't have a girl, but I have the curse of curly hair.
Is her hair thick, or still fine and just really curly? I'd use those 'ouchless' small rubberbands to control it - or even a barette might stay in her hair if it's a bit thicker -
anything she'll let you put in her hair, and will stay put will work
Keep it conditioned and try not to brush it too much - maybe just a comb?

It's still fine, but all over the place, and she will let me put a clip in but then take it out so it won't stay in...
I was thinking of using an adult gel or something to tame it, bc it's out of control and not getting any better

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
they make baby hair products, but my sister swears it's a marketing gimick (she's a stylist and works in the labs for L'Oreal) she always says to use a mild, non alcoholic product

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
OMG I was just going to post this same thing. My DD has crazy curly hair that is super curly in the back but super dry and frizzy too. The hair in the front is soft and shiny and had a slight wave to it. I have no idea what to do with it!

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
Try not to brush curly hair too much, just comb it when its really wet and leave it. If you want to experiment with a product try using just regular lotion. I forgot to pack my hair serum when i went to the caribbean (of all places) so i used my lotion all week and it worked great. Its not drying and wont damage fine hair.

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
I use gel in DD's hair and blow dry it. I use my fingers to seperate her curls. I bribe her with my lipgloss in order for her to sit still. She sits on the bathroom vanity and looks at herself in the mirror while she applies her lipgloss

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
I've been putting the front of DD's hair in 2 pigtails on the top of her head and bribing her with cookies/tv/candy - basically anything to get her to sit still while I do it. And I may or may not have wrestled her down on my bed one morning not too long ago to get it done...
It's past the point where I can let her out of the house with her hair free and try to pass it off as wild and cute.

Can you take my DD for a week, work your magic and then send her back home to me?
I can't imagine my DD would sit while I blow her hair. She freaks when I do my own, but I've been so tempted.

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
My daughter has super duper curly hair... but it's uber thin.
I wash her hair and then shampoo (I use the johnson & Johnson for curly hair)..
In the morning I wet her hair down before I brush it and put in some styling stuff (moroccan oil- whatever I use for myself usually) and then I scrunch it together and let it air dry.
edited with a pic... I find I Have to take her for trims more often than her friends b/c her hair grows out, not down.

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
I always put it back, either in a headband, pigtails, etc.... when its down she looks like a wildchild! Detangler works wonders for combing it while its wet too... but I wouldn't comb it dry, that makes it frizz!

Re: Mom's with girls that have curly hair
MY DD and DS have curly hair. I always put a Paul Mitchell Kids spray conditioner in their hair after they take a bath, and then I scrunch their hair.. I always put a barrette in the front of her hair to keep it out of her eyes. Now that the weather is warmer I have been putting her hair in pigtails(sp?). It is so funny because I don't think of curly hair as a curse, I really like their hair. I have straight hair and I have always wanted curly or wavy hair. LOL
