Tell me about the weirdest stuff that has happened to you that sticks in your mind.

You know, the kind of stuff that you still look back on and think, "wow..that was weird or unexplainable!"

I'll start:

One time when I was younger I was reading a book before bed as I still do. I had a girly lamp with a sturdy plastic-like shade. I must have fallen asleep with the light on.

I then dreamt that the house was on fire & I was the only one who made it out alive. I got scared & woke up, and found my lamp shade was melting, as it was hitting the light bulb.

I think maybe I smelled something like smoke and it worked its way into my subconscious and I dreamt of it.

Another time a friend & I were walking in a park discussing the mystery of life and different philosophies; a pretty deep discussion. We approached a little pond and walked over the little bridge. Coming off of it, I saw an old newspaper piece that was torn from a page. It read in bold letters "QUESTIONS ARISE." I always thought that was kind of neat.

When I found out I was pregnant, all along I thought it was a girl. I couldn't fathom me having a boy, that is how strong I felt that I was having a girl. When I found out it was a boy, I was shocked. I ended up having a dream where a little blonde girl came to my bed and said, "I'm sorry, but you're not having me. You didn't really want me. I'm sorry, but I have to go now." That freaked me out, too.


anyway, those are some of my weirdo stuff.

also, one time I had a cat when I was a kid and she went in to be declawed.

I called the vet to see if she was ready to be picked up, but a man answered. The man didn't answer the phone saying "Vet's office, how may I help you?" but I was 11, so I didn't pick up on it.

I asked if my cat was ready and he said, "Oh, I'm so sorry...we had to put down your cat. It started acting up & foaming at the mouth. But we have another cat here ready for you to pick up."

I cried and hung up and told my parents. My mom immediately called the vet's office, who proceeded to say my cat was just fine, and that some sicko has the same phone number as their office, just one number off, and a lot of people mistakenly call him and he does this to be cruel, as he gets so many phone calls that are not for him.

That was awful.

when my SIL was pregnant with her 1st, there were some issues that indicated possibility of Downs Syndrome...i prayed so much for a healthy baby for my brother & SIL at night. The next day walking through City Hall Park at lunch a mentally handicapped person passing by looked at me and said "Jesus Loves You"...at first I shook it off as a random odd NY experience...but then I realized i was wearing my Grandma's cross and this person had a disability similar to what the issue was..and I suddenly got overwhelmed with a feeling that the baby was going to be OK and this was a sign...as soon as i got in my office I called my SIL and told her what happened & she started crying...needless to say I am blessed with a healthy nephew who will be 11 next week (as well as a niece & other nephew)

when i was a teenager I used to be up in my room & hear my Mom say "Kath...I'm home!"...i'd come downstairs and see her pulling into the driveway. This happened more than once.

It was 2:00 a.m. in January on a cold winter night. i was 18 and there was alot of snowfall that had accumulated during the evening. I had just left my friends house and stopped at the Gas Station.

When i was done refueling, and about to turn on to Ocean Ave in Ronkonkoma, I noticed a very old man walking at a snails pace, cane in hand, past my car. And although even to this day i have never picked up a stranger, something compelled me to ask where this man was heading this time of night.

He said hi son im heading home. i replied where's home sir? He said he lived in Bohemia. My first reaction was Bohemia!!
What the hell is an elderly man doing at this time of night, in this kind of weather, all the way down here.So I politely asked him if i could give him a lift.

During the ride the old man whom for some reason never told me his name, kept saying God Bless You, and that God is looking down on you. At this time, at 18 yrs old, i remember feeling a little creeped out, because he kept repeating this message over and over again.

When I finally reached Bohemia he asked me to stop on a road which had no houses in sight and only trees from side to side. i replied sir i'll drop you off at your house, you don't have to get out here. But he insisted that I drop him off in the middle of the street.

As he stepped out of the car he whispered to me "Tom... everything is going to be alright, and you will be ok." Weird thing is i don't ever recall telling him my name. But what happened next always gives me the chills.

As he stepped away from the car, i drove about 10 ft and stopped to see where he was headed. I looked in my rearview mirror and I didn't see a thing.
I thought this is impossible because he walks so slow. So i stepped out of my car thinking he was in my blindspot and realized this guy just vanished. No footprints, nothing.

I felt a chill down my spine, that felt a lot different from the biting cold. i remember saying to myself that the old man was an angel or a spirit. Either way
this is by far the weirdest thing to ever happen to me

I have a few of these oddities...but i'll share two.

1. When I was thirteen I was home from school doing my homework on the floor and I had my hair up in a messy knot. My grandmother was sitting on the other side of the room facing me, reading a book. The only other person in the house was my brother who at the moment I thought was in his room turns out he had left before to go study at a friends house. I was looking down at a book on the floor when I felt someone come up behind me take a breath in and blow on the back of my neck. The hairs hanging down from my knot moved from back to front. I rubbed the back of my neck and said annoyed...."Matt cut it out" my grandmother looked up and said "Tiffany what's the matter with you Matt left almost an hour ago.." This sent chills down my spine, and still does to this day.

2. DH's mother had passed away in August and he had a really hard time dealing with it. We both did. She loved us both deeply and it had always bothered him that we hadn't given her a grandbaby like she had begged for up until the day she passed away. Well roll along February (later that year) and I had just suffered a miscarriage in December. We were still trying but the miscarriage had made me go into a depression. We were driving from NY to South Carolina, to see my brother graduate from Army Basic Training. We were stopping in Indiana PA to pick up my sister from college so she could be with us. We were driving a 94 Dodge Dakota sport that was front heavy, and going roughly 65-70 MPH. I had fallen asleep in the passenger seat around 2 and woke up at 4:14. I remember looking at the clock for some reason, then putting my seat belt on and hearing the song IM 2 sexy playing on the radio. The song changed to WHip it and then we hit a patch of ice. It got eerily quite in the car and all DH said was "Hold on". We both knew the truck was going to flip. My DH held on tight as we skidded off the road and into an ice covered ditch. Suddenly we stopped. MY DH looked at me and I looked at him. We instantly hugged. First words out of his mouth were "Thank you mom" WHen the tow truck got there and we explained what happened he was shocked. He said based on where we hit they should have been scrapping parts of us and the truck off the road. The next day we found out that the gas tank had been ripped off the truck, the entire frame was bent, and it had three shredded tires. I also found out that I was pregnant. When we both look back we can fathom what stopped us from flipping, and not dying but we always send a silent prayer to his mom.

When I was younger I saw on Oprah that if you had a regular phone (not cordless) and you pressed down the receiver a certain number of times, you could dial that way if the dialpad was broken. Some woman used this technique to call 911 when she was kidnapped. So, I dreamt (or I thought I dreamt) that I woke up and wanted to try it so I dialed 911 this way. I could have SWORN it was a dream. About ten minutes later, the cops showed up because someone had called 911 and didn't talk into the phone They asked my dad how many people were in the house and then made my dad wake all of us up and the cop asked each of us separately how many people were in teh house. I totally forgot about the dream until the next morning and to this day I have no idea if I dialed it or not!

Also when I was younger, as I was waking up I would often feel a cold hand caressing my arm. I have no idea who it could be.

I remember driving home from high school and there is a part of the road where there is a very sharp tight right turn and a lot of bushes along the side of the road so it is hard to see around the bend. Something told me to get out of the right lane and into the left lane. Thank God I did, because someone was walking in that lane right around the bend and I would have not seen them in time and hit them at a high rate of speed

I've seen and felt spirits.

After my mom passed away, I would feel her hand on my cheek, sort of comforting me.
When MIL was in ICU, I was in the waiting room, half dozing because it was the middle of the night. I got up to stretch, and a spirit walked right in front of me, as if to pass me by and leave. I couldn't tell who the spirit was.

When MIL was dying, I would feel a presence in her room, usually could tell if it was male (felt large) or female (felt smaller). I would tell DH that someone was with us, whether I thought it was male or female. Totally freaked him out. MIL would wake up for a little bit and tell us about her "visits" with her relatives !
The females seemed to not stay very long, sort of flitting in and out, which made me think that most of the time it was cousin Alice, who had been the most recent to pass away. I wanted to believe that Alice was getting MIL ready, and we kept telling MIL to go with Alice.

DH to this day still gets goosebumps about this story.

Didn't happen to me but my friend. She was going through a tough time in her family. Her sister had just had breast cancer and was having some complications and she was on a aplane. She was up in tthe clouds and everything was all sunny with puffy white clouds. She is religious so she asked G O D to give her a sign that everything would be OK. She landed about 30 mins later and was walking through the airport when she slipped. She stopped and looked at her shoe and found a pin with a picture of Jesus on it stuck in her shoe.

I have a couple- but my favorite by far- my grandmother passed away in March 2000, a couple months later I was driving home late from college and was just about to go through a traffic light that turned green, and I smelt her soap and heard her whisper "wait", I waited and a car went through the red light on the opposite side- it would have smashed into me and probably killed me- my grandma saved my life

I'll never forget this one.......

When I was about 15, I hung out with this girl named Sue was loved using the OUIJA board. I never believed in it, but one night agreed to use one for fun. I don't remember what the board said, but that night, I was lying in bed and saw this shapeless, gray mist floating by my bedroom door. It floated out of my room and went into my mother's room. It freaked me out, but I thought I was just seeing things and went to sleep. The next day, my mother mentioned to me in passing that she had a bad nightmare and didn't sleep well. (At the time, I didn't put two and two together about the mist I saw floating into her bedroom).

Sue came over again and wanted to try the board some more. So when we did the OUIJA board again that night, I asked what my mother's nightmare was about and it spelled out "heart".

I didn't think much of it. But after Sue went home, I asked my mother what her nightmare was about and she said she dreamt she was having a heart transplant.

FREAKY.......

The day I would have techically conceived DD (although I did not know it at the time) I had a dream of DH and I playing with a little girl and her calling him Daddy - it was so vivid. The next morning I just KNEW that I was pregnant but obviously had 2 wait to weeks to be sure.

Sure enough, I was pregnant mith DD.

I posted this when it happened. 2 years ago..the winter after my grandmother passed away, there was a huge snowstorm. My family was here at my house..we had ordered a pizza and were waiting for it to be delivered. When I went out to pay the pizza man...I noticed my entire ledge on the porch was filled with snow. Ok..fine..come back..eat pizza..go back outside to see how much its coming down and there on the ledge..where it was all brand new untouched snow is MARY in all capital letters..written in exactly my grandmothers handwriting. We even called the freakin pizza place to ask the delivery man if he had written anything there...we know him well. My dogs would have gone insane if someone came up on our private porch and they didnt. It was my grandmother..I am sure of it..she was always so proud of her name...it was totally unreal!!


2 months after my moms bf passed away...there was a bunch of FRESH sunflowers wrapped in a plastic bag sitting on the mailbox on my moms corner. He would always bring my mom sunflowers..and he would wrap a plastic bag around the bottom of it to keep them moist on the train ride home..exactly how these sunflowers were placed on the mailbox...we all know this was Kenny giving his last sunflowers to my Mom.

My best friend, Karen, died when we were 24 of cancer. Needless to say, we were all so upset. I was out of work for over a week. Then on the Sunday after her funeral, mE and my fiance went to a local Friendly's for breakfeast. He was amazed at how much better I was doing. So I told him about this dream I had the night before, in detail, about having a "last night" to hang out with Karen. Who we were with, where we went, what we did and talked about. I remembered (and still do) every detail. We were just getting our meal and my friend Laura and her DH, go to walk past us to leave. They were at the total other side of the restaurnat, we did not even know they were there. She seemed much better too. She told us about a dream she had the night before, and it was the same exact dream, detail to detail. My fiance almost fell off his chair. We both to this day still cherish that "last night" we had with Karen.

The year before Karen passed, my mother passed. I could swear she came to me in my room to tell me it was ok, everything was going to be alright. It definetly made me feel better, but I had always thought it was just a dream until this happened with Karen.
