Has anyone ever had a full body check at the dermatologist?
How detailed is this exam? (as far as privates go )

Re: Has anyone ever had a full body check at the dermatologist?
They had me keep my panties on and gave me one of those paper gowns to wear.
My derm is a male, so he had a female stay in the room while he did the exam. He checks my scalp, ears, face, shoulders, then I had to lower the gown and he look in the breast area, under arms, then I put the gown back on and he continued until he finished with my toes. I don't recall having to remove or move my panties for the exam.
It wasn't bad at all, but when it comes to medical stuff like that, I'm not shy; I just look at it as standard procedure. Besides, it's in my (and my family's) best interest that he checks all those nooks & crannies!

I had the exact same experience, and quite frankly since I had skin cancer I would have PREFERRED had he checked me MORE thoroughly, it's my LIFE, I don't give a darn about my privacy! He just asked me if there was anything in any areas he didn't check (breasts, butt, 'pelvis') that I felt should be looked at... I'm not a doctor how do I know

My derm has you keep your underwear on too. She's thorough but I still let her know if there are any spots I'd like her to take a good look at.
