TMI Question/Comment
A friend of mine went to her OB and she suggested that she shaves completely down there because it is more sanitary and better for delivery.
Have you ever heard of this?
I am not sure when my belly gets bigger that will be able to see down there.

Re: TMI Question/Comment
Um, sounds like a great idea in theory, but I cannot see how that is possible

Re: TMI Question/Comment
I know years...years ago they used to recommend that or even do it in the hospital. But i haven't heard of any doc recommending that lately.
While in theory it makes sense, i dont think it really matters in the grand scheme of things or else they would be doing it for you in the hospital.

Re: TMI Question/Comment
I can barely see down there at 20 weeks - I can't imagine that at the end! I would love for that to happen though,

Re: TMI Question/Comment
I know when my mom gave birth to me over 30 years ago in Poland she had to shave when she got to the hospital for the delivery...

Re: TMI Question/Comment
I don't think shaving will be a good idea since you could cut yourself ...if you want to go bare. I will get a bikini wax. I got it at 28 weeks and will be doing another soon. I will hope to have time an do it a few weeks before my due date :O)

Re: TMI Question/Comment
My OB says NOT to shave within a week of a scheduled c section because it increases the risk of infection. It probably doesn't matter as much for vaginal births.

Re: TMI Question/Comment
ugh i've been waxing my legs but petrified to wax my bikini line again. did it at 13 weeks and almost left in tears. i would like to add that i used to wax my bikini line myself so it wasn't the first time. all the extra blood there made it painful i can only imagine now!

Re: TMI Question/Comment
That is something that is in the book "What to Expect When Your Expecting". The book said that shaving was practiced a long time ago and is not necessary.
On a side note, my aunt, when she was having her first over 30 years ago, had a rough nurse. The nurse came in a shaved my aunt!!!! My aunt had no idea why and was mortified.
I'm glad this isn't done anymore. Imagine recovering from labor and being all itchy! Forget it!

Re: TMI Question/Comment
For a section they do shave you at the hospital. I didn't know this for my first but for my second, I shaved but not well enough that they still had to do it before the section...hopefully this time around I get it right, they use a buzzer and it hurts so bad
