Salary history question

Is it an average of my past salaries? Or is it the salary I am looking to make? Do I include that in my cover letter and if so any ideas on how to word it? TIA

Re: Salary history question

I'm not sure if you include it on your cover letter. I'm thinking maybe after the interview part and such, you would discuss this. Just think, you don't want to sell yourself short!

I know that is why I hate putting salary down, but they asked for salary history

Re: Salary history question

I would recommend stating that salary is negotiable - it can go either way though - some employers will not even look at your resume if you don't include it and they ask for it, because they don't want to waste their time if you are expecting too much.

Make sure you visit sites such as www.salary.com or wetfeet.com to get an idea of the typical salary range for your position within your geographic area. When asked what you think you should make in a job interview setting, its best to give them a range based on your knowledge of industry standards.

Great advice! I've always wondered this myself. Thanks!
