Depressed

I am so depressed lately. I swear I can't stand the waiting anymore Chat Icon . It seems the whole China program has basically slowed down to a halt. It has taken them 4 months to match one month of dossiers. When we started the wait was 5-7 months. Now the wait is up to 11-12 months and the rumor is that if they go on this trend it could be up to 24 months. I honest think this is worse than all the fertility issues. At least then I was doing something, taking tests, going to doctors, having procedures done, but now all i do is sit and wait.

I was so looking forward to having my daughter home over the summer and now I think we are going to be lucky if it is in the beginning of next year. Chat Icon

Thanks I just needed to vent and if one more family member asks me when we are getting the baby I might just chop off their head. Chat Icon

Re: Depressed

24 Months?!! No way!

I think the key is to keep ourselves busy. I know I have a mental list of plans I want to do b/f 'Ava's' arrival, but that list ends by xmas. So I know I can totally understand your feelings. For me going for the baby furniture was tough, as much as I want to order it Now, I know my personality will get depressed not filling the crib with a baby ASAP.

You know we are here for you, and you are always welcome to call, come over, meet for coffee while DH is away (or not)....

I know the waiting is soooo hard. Keep busy do all the couple stuff you love doing, what ever you want to do to your home etc. Once your little one gets here you will forget all about the wait. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Waiting is really hard. I know.
Your agency is saying 24 months?
I e-mailed my friend who adopted from china and knows a lot of people who are doing it again. I asked her what she is hearing. I will let you know.Chat Icon

Re: Depressed

Thanks guys : ) I'm just so impatient but I know in the end I'll have a beautiful daughter. Last night was rough because we just went to a family party and at least 15 different people were asking about updates. I know they mean well but ughh it is frustrating.

No the agencies didn't say 24 months, they are saying 11 to 12 now but all the messages boards are painting a doomsday scenario because of how slow they have been the past 4 months.

Thanks again for the vent Chat Icon

Re: Depressed

I hear 'ya. It definitely is tough waiting...esp. since you've gone out and bought things for the baby already. I'm sorry to hear it's going to slow. Maybe they'll pick up the speed as the months progress. When did you submit your initial app again? Are you talking 11-12 months from the date your homestudy was complete? That is a long time. I'm so sorry. It's especially hard when you have a specific date set in your head and then they're telling you it will likely be later. Like I know for me and Joe we were set on July and now our SW is telling us probably December 06/January 07. I will probably plan a trip with Joe as a last childless hoorah. Try to keep yourself as busy as possible. Hang in there. I know it's tough. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Depressed

The biggest hurrah of all will be when our babies come home though. Though a vacation right now sounds MIGHTY tempting I might say. Mmmm....Mexico....you lucky duck! Anyone know of a dogsitter? Sorry, I totally hijacked this thread.

Susan,

A friend on mine will take in dogs into her home or will go to your home to watch them. I can get you her number if you want.

Re: Depressed

I know the wait is hard, but believe me, the wait is so worth the end result. Think of it this way, whenever you get your referral and travel to get your baby, it will be the baby that was meant for you, and you are the parent meant for her. I know it does not make it any easier, but believe me, China has an unbelievable knack of getting the right child with the right parent. Also, don't pay too much attention to the message boards. I know it's hard, but so much of the information is speculation, and worst case senerios. While I was waiting, I know some of the thing I saw on the boards were crazy, and all that I checked out were incorrect. I know it does not seam that way, but the wait will be over, and you will have your beautiful baby with you.
