We donated the cord blood at NSUH. They told us since we donated we can always get it if we needed it ...the only problem it isnt your cord blood but it is a match. Banking the cord blood wasnt a big deal to me.

We did it because strokes run in my side of the family (my Dad had a massive one at 57 that left him partially paralyzed and unable to speak conversationally), diabetes runs in my DH's family, and three of his four grandparents died of cancer.
With that combination of factors we decided to do it.
It's what made the most sense to us. We hope the research and experimentation is where it needs to be if my kids ever truly need it.
ETA: We did qualify for a multiples discount. You need to send in a copy of both birth certificates as proof.

we plan on doing it, after much discussion we felt it was something we could fit into our budget, yes its alot and we do get a small discount for multiples, but we felt it was important and worth it

I really want to do it, but am concerned about the cost. I just feel like I would be devestated if they ever needed it and we hadn't done it.

I researched it and decided against it for all my kids.
I donated my sons and would have donated the twins but the hospital I delivered at didn't offer that option.

We did it, we didn't have the money at the time but thought it was really important so we saved and paid it off before the boys were born.
