including a picture with your resume?
I was going through listings online for an office asst & one particular ad wanted applicants to send a photo of themselves. Would you do this or just skip over this ad?

i would not send a photo unless it was related to the job you're applying for.

Re: including a picture with your resume?
unless it was for a model or acting position, i wouldn't.
when i was looking for an apt while back, the guy was so nice, and then he requested a pic -- blatant racism, if you ask me!
i'd ask why they require one - and they maybe report them to whomever.
can you share what kind of job it was?

also, JobFairy.com reports that hiring departments "legally cannot consider your picture in determining if you are to be interviewed, or hired," and that "many companies won't even consider résumés that are submitted with a picture to ensure that they are in compliance with [the Equal Opportunity Employer]" legislation. Keep in mind, however, that if you are applying for jobs overseas, photographs may be the norm on résumés.

I'd absolutely skip it because it just seems sketchy to me - if they have this unofficial hiring process (like not in line with all other EOE) then I could only imagine what other things you would run into during the process.

Re: including a picture with your resume?
The only legit reason they could ask you for a pic for a resume (other than modeling/acting) is they want to make sure you are the person who is coming on the interview. Although, I can't imagine why they wouldn't ask for photo ID when you came in. I lived in a co-op and phone ID was required with all applications and then verified during the interview.
