Standing up and crying in crib at night?
I know I've seen posts about this, but I searched and couldn't find any!
DS has been pulling to stand for a while, but he started cruising (is that what walking while holding on is?) in the past week or so. He's started standing up and walking around his crib while WAILING every night around 2AM or so. He is inconsolable. I try to put him down and calm him by stroking his head, etc., but he cries harder and tries to climb up my arms to get out. Eventually he winds up back in our bed, which is hard because he kicks me in the back all night.
Is this a phase when they start cruising? He still isn't good at sitting down from standing; he usually falls down on his butt and cries.
Any advice? I don't think he's sick (no fever, not pulling at ears or upset stomach), and he already has 6 teeth so I don't think that's an issue.

Re: Standing up and crying in crib at night?
OMG!!! I think you're talking about my son! He's been doing this for a little while. Started about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I took him to the Ped b/c this isn't like him. He normally STTN. Our mistake... holding him and rocking to put him to sleep. The Ped said he's waking up and not in the same spot he's sleeping in. So, last Thurs I let him cry to sleep around 8PM. Rubbed his back and it worked. STTN for a few days.
THEN last night... up at 2:45 AM till 5:30 AM. I took him to daycare miserable. I felt so bad.
He walks around the whole crib crying, sobbing, breathing so hard to catch his breath
I Hope it's a phase

That's exactly what we are going through! I don't know what to do; he STTN since 6 months or so and none of my old tricks are working, and we are EXHAUSTED!

my son has been doing the same thing but I believe its because he's teething. I'm interested to see what everyone says about this but I figured that he's pulling himself up and cruising around the crib because he has the ability to. He's either trying to find a way out or looking for mom.

It's insane! Mason has been STTN since about 4.5 to 5 months. Once he learned to pull himself up a few weeks ago it got harder to put him to bed. Like I said... we started rocking him and that's where the nightmare began. When the Ped said he's fine we knew to let him cry to sleep or soothe him, but in his crb. This only worked a few days. I think it may be teething b/c last night was the WORST. 2:45AM and been up since. I have a HUGE cup of coffee next to me
