Storage - can anyone help re putting stuff in storage?
How does that work and what might it cost to store ALOT of stuff (such as all your furniture, etc? Is it safe? Do you get a room or more, if you need to and what might that cost?
Thanks

Re: Storage - can anyone help re putting stuff in storage?
I have never done it, for a long period of time. We used it for one week through the moving company provided by DHs job relo. It is my understanding that there are a few different types of long term storage. 1. Pod - you fill it at your house, and they pick it up and can either store it or deliver it to a new home. 2. Professional movers - they store your stuff. While we had a good experience with this I know someone else whose stuff was stolen and destroyed by a different vendor. They had insurance, but many personal irreplaceable things are now gone. 3. Long term storage. You can rent by the month or year. They have different size units to rent and the price varies by the size and length of the contract. You get a key to a room and can fill it. The one thing to note is that if you fail to pay your rent they can sell your stuff. So keep on top of it. Think of Paris Hilton's sex tape. This was how it was leaked.

Thank you so much. Can anyone tell me more about the pods? Where does that go or does it stay on your property?

Its depends on the size unit you get, and most places, you pay monthly.
We used extra space storage, the small unit and paid $99/mo

I did it for a year. The unit I used was through Public Storage. I provided my own padlock with a key, so you could go in when needed. For the location I used, which was actually in MD, you paid based on size of unit and location, i.e. some units were insulated, lower levels cost less, etc.

Re: Storage - can anyone help re putting stuff in storage?
I had a storage unit for three years while we were renting and it cost $120 a month. I think we had a medium sized unit and it wasn't insulated. It was a little on the expensive side but we had no choice because we had no room to store all our stuff. We also provided our own padlock and key.

Re: Storage - can anyone help re putting stuff in storage?
We used a storage place for almost a year. It was about 120/130 and that was with the 10$/month for insurance. It covered up to X amount of dollars. We picked the size we needed. They gave us info on the different sizes that said about how much each unit can hold. We got our own passcode to get into the facility. Needed it to access the loading dock, the doors into the storage areas, and to get the elevator to get to your floor.
