Those who have had a cerlage
What is it like? How long did you have to stay in the hospital? Did it hurt? Did you have to stay off of your feet afterward? TIA!

Re: Those who have had a cerlage
I just had one two weeks ago. The actually procedure, including the spinal, was NOT bad at all. I felt pressure but thats it. I was in the hospital all day because I was throwing up....one of the nurses gave me orange juice and it made me really sick.
As far as recovery, I had a few stitches done really high up so I was uncomfortable on that day but it felt like bad period cramps...nothing major.
I bled for about 2 days after and thats it. The waiting for the procedure was the worst part...it def was not as bad as I though.
I am on bedrest indefinately but I think you are supposed to rest for the next 48 hours at least. Your Dr. will tell you.
Good Luck!

Re: Those who have had a cerlage
I had my cerclage done at 14 weeks i am now 27 weeks!! I have not been on Bed rest at all and im a hair stylist on my feet 5 days a week!!!! My cerclage has worked sooo fabulously! i would recommend it to anyone who has a short or week cervix!! The actual procedure is nothing you really dont feel anything becasue of the spinal. Just some pressure its done in less than a half hour! and i spent pretty much the day in the hosp because it took me forever to get feeling back!! lol They say that you only have to stay until you can pee on your own! i was a little crampy the next day and that was it i was spotty just the day i had the procedure, and just heavy discharge the next couple of weeks. It really very easy and once its in its in till well my dr says 37 weeks... GOOD LUCK ITS NO STRESS!!

Re: Those who have had a cerlage
i had mine done at 20 weeks. like the other ladies said, the waiting is the worst part. i waited for a few hours before b/c an emergency c-section came in. i was at the hospital for a total of 7 hours. about an hour n half after the procedure, you had to pee on your own which took a few trips to the bathroom before i finally went. light spotting for day afterward, very little cramping after it too. next day felt fine but strict bed rest for 3 days after procedure. i am going back to work next week so i was on modified bedrest for 5 weeks, but think b.c i had it later than usual and having twins. good luck!!

Re: Those who have had a cerlage
I'm crashing since I didn't have one but my mom did, 26 years ago and it saved my life! She started dilating when she was 5 months preggo, they took it out at 8.5 months or so but to everyone's dismay I wasn't born for another 5 weeks! She still complains about it but she even mentioned to me that if I start dilating early, I should absolutely get one!

Re: Those who have had a cerlage
my friend had one so get it as soon as possible the longer you wait the more your cervix will continue to open.
good luck!

Re: Those who have had a cerlage
i had one at 16 wks bc of my short cervix. my dr had me go straight to the hospital after a friday dr appt. i had to stay in the hospital for 3 days, but maybe thats bc it was a weekend? my dr wanted me stay on strict bed rest for the first week and then recheck my cervix. since it was still short and has remained so, i will be on bed rest until i deliver my .
the procedure itself wasnt so bad...it lasted about 30 min. the worst part for me was the spinal and then waiting for it to wear off. i was in recovery for like 3 hours
good luck!!!!
