really stupid question I guess I should know..
How do you find out what school you will be "zoned" for (DH & I are considering moving to a new neighborhood)
and how do you find out which school is *better*

That will give you great info about the schools, but won't necessarily tell you where you're zoned.
If you know what SD a specific address is zoned for, you can call the disctrict office directly and ask what school within the disctirct your child would attend.

Try this map for zoning.here
Try the zip code search.
Now try here for info http://schools.nyc.gov/default.htm
Type the school numbers in, then on the left hand side, you should see statistics. Click on that to see some reviews.
