nyc teachers can someone please explain? salary question
Hi, I am confused about something on the salary scale. As I understand, and please correct me if i am wrong... the steps are how long you have been teaching like... 1a is first year fall, 1b is first year spring, etc. Then when you are teaching for 5 years, you get $1000 added to your salary? What I am confused by is the bold print of 5 yr long 10 yr long, etc. Is that salary line for those working 5 years or is the one that says 5a and 5b? because the salary difference is about $10,000-$15,000. If the bold 5 long is not how long you have been teaching, what is it? I would really appreciate your help on this. TIA!!! -Jenn

I think I can explain.
After 8 years in, you no longer get an increase in pay 2x a year. So instead, you will get longevity pay...except for 5 years in. You get get an extra thousand spread throughout your pay check...BIG DEAL!
