Opinions Needed...

I am going to be 35 weeks tomorrow.

Baby A is head down.
Baby B is transverse (and has been for months.)

My dr said she is willing to try for a vag delivery. She said Baby B may turn after Baby A comes out. If not, she may have to do a c-section on Baby B. Baby B is much bigger so she doesn't know how likely it is that they will turn.

Would u try that, knowing that there's a chance u could have 1 vag and 1 c/s or just schedule a c/s for both?

She thinks I may have them in the next week so I am a nervous wreck.

Help!

Re: Opinions Needed...

I would personally just do the c/section. For me Baby A was head down and Baby B was breech and I decided early on to do a section, I didn't want to end up having to deliver one and then have a section for the second one and have to go through both recoveries at the same time. My water broke around 8:30, we got to the hospital at 9:45 and at 11:46 and 11:47 my twins were born.

for me, i would do the c-section, but that's really bc i would be too scared that i would go through labor, etc., only to have a c-section too

and i am so excited for you! so soon!!

Re: Opinions Needed...

mine are the same position. baby a head down, baby b is transverse. my dr told me the same thing about trying for a VBAC, but that i may end up with a c/s for baby b if he doesnt turn.
im too scared to take that risk of 2 different types of deliveries so i am just gonna opt for the c/s.
but you gotta do what you think is right/best for you.

good luck, whatever you decide!!!

Re: Opinions Needed...

My doctor would only let me try for vaginal if both babies were head down.
Turned out A was breech, so that was the end of that.
I would have wanted to try a vaginal if there was any way possible. Is your doctor willing to try to turn baby B if he or she does not turn naturally? I do know they will have you deliver in the OR just in case you need a c-section.

Ditto!

With the babies in that position, I would get the c-section.

If I went vaginally for one and the other didnt come out because it didnt flip, hello c-section.

That is a double whammy! (no pun intended).

Re: Opinions Needed...

Ugh, this is my biggest fear....having to recover from a vag. delivery AND a c-section.
Since baby B isn't breech, maybe it is worth a shot. But, that is a big chance to take...
I, personally, am scared to death of a c-section, though so I may not be the best to give advice!

Jenn, i would honestly do the C.

why risk doing both if you don't have to.. i personally didnt think the C section was that terrible. you kind of forget everything once you have those babies in your arms Chat Icon

i just say this because baby A was head down literally the day before i gave birth.. then turned .. its just too risky

Well, I too was in your shoes. BabyA was always vertex(head down) and Baby B was always transverse-UNTIL my 32 week growth sono. BOTH are head down and waiting to meet me.

I wasn't sure what to do also.

My doctor is supporting a vaginal delivery and really believes that if BabyB remained tranverse, and BabyA was head down, that as soon as Baby A came out that BabyB would flip into place.

If the babies remain to vertex position I will attempt vaginal. Time will tell.

Re: Opinions Needed...

I would personally do the c-section. My Baby A was head down for weeks and Baby B was never. My doctor from the beginning said he would only do a C-section b/c you can put the 2nd baby at risk. I agreed b/c this happened to my sister. She also has twins. Her Baby A she delivered vag and then Baby B went into distress and she ended up with an emergency c-section. It was scary!

I would go with the c-section.
Baby A was head down but B was side ways- I was given the option- I chose the c-section- Dr. told me I made the right choice baby B, baby B turned the wrong way after a was out and I would have had a c-section anyway.
Mine came at just over 35 weeks.

good luck

Re: Opinions Needed...

I would do C/S. My dr was very adamant if both babies weren't head down there was no way she would let me deliver vaginally. She said that there is nothing worse then laboring and delivering and then needing a C/S. The recovery is not a smooth or fun one.
