Question about poop...plz help!

Ok so I am freaking out!
This morning when changing DS I noticed little black strings in his poop...they were like black mucous strings! He is not uncomfortable and doesnt appear constipated??
3 months old and on formula with a little rice cereal at night (ok'd by MD)
Sometimes when he gets a little gassy I make his formula with chamomile tea (also ok'd by MD) so I am not sure if maybe its from the tea although Ive been doing that for about a month and this is the 1st time I see these little strings???
My ped office is closed because of the holiday but I am wondering if I should put a call out to him...should I be worried? I googled and many women same its from normal when babies eat bananas but my ds is not eating bananas?? He has been teething a little so constantly with his hands in his mouth...could he have ingested something??? Plz help..

i've never heard of black strings but i know mucous in poop can be a sign of a milk allergy. we had to switch DD to soy for about 4 months because her poop was mucousy. we switched her back no problem at 4 months to regular formula.

i would doubt it's anything serious that couldn't wait until tomorrow, but if you're worried, call the ped. at least they can tell you over the phone what to do. good luck!

I called the ped---he said its normal, sometimes the milk breaks down bi-products? DS is perfectly happy so he said to just monitor him and if anything changes or if it doesnt clear up call him back...
WHo knew I would be a poop-analyzer!
