DH's consult today

At the suggestion of Dr. Batzofatso (Batzofin, my RE at SIRM) DH had a consult with a urologist today at Beth-Israel. Head of the Dept.

Anyway DH has not 1 but 2 varicocoles. He will need to have a "procedure" done microscopically. This is probably what is affecting his volume and morphology, and the Dr. told him that after this kind of procedure with all else being equal pregnancy rates go up 50%. So, we will wait until after IVF at least (as recoup. time is 3+ months), and then he will do the procedure.

I am glad we got some answers -- but it pizzes me off that REs don't even look into this seriously. Chat Icon

DH thinks the Dr. was extremely helpful and informative and positive... he is glad he went. And I am glad we were recommended to the Urologist.

Dr. Batzofin, is big into male issues...since he has a fellowship in this field.

Re: DH's consult today

Yes I am glad they are just as serious about male factor as female.

I guess my point is...ladies if your DH's SA is less than desirable, maybe have him checked out too, even if the RE doesn't push it. You never know... I just found out that my cousin had been going through IF, taking shots, doing IUI, etc. Then her DH had the procedure for his varicocele, that the Dr. didn't think was the reason for their IF, and she got pg 2 months after his recoup and healing...

Re: DH's consult today

I am glad you got this news now Kara!

Im surprised at the RE's as well. My DH's SA was less then desirable and my first RE did nothing.

My second though ( Dr. Chu) insisted DH see a urologist specializing in infertility before she would go any further and "waste any time" ...so it does seem to matter WHO you see that makes the difference.

Good luck to you and to DH!

Hey Donna yes I remember you posting about this. It's weird how most REs just ignore this. How is your DH doing??

Re: DH's consult today

hes doing well. The vitamins helped him a LOT. His numbers on our last two IUIs were GREAT. Dr. Chu said she was impressed and confident with them....thanks for asking.
