Re: Problems with INLAWS??
What I'm learning is that there is no way to get DH to see another view on his own parents...I would just let it be, and bit the bullet for some holidays...
I used to do this, I would get upset, it would cause so many fights between DH and I...in the end its NOT worth it
I can't stand my IL's either

Re: Problems with INLAWS??
Does he really think it's "normal" for his parents who live 5 minutes away to see his DD twice in 7 months?? Or do you think he's just saying that because he's embarassed.
I think I would suck it up and go there for major holidays or birthdays but that's it and wouldn't do anythingelse.

Re: Problems with INLAWS??
I have the opposite. My ILs I see multiple times a week. If they dont see DS for more than 3 days they stop by just to see him. I do love it and I get along great with them.
My dad on the other hand lives about 20 minutes from here and sees my DS if I go to his house, if we have some event (bday holiday etc) or if I call him and say come over for some reason. Its all basically my initiating. My dad never calls and asks how's DS doing.
But honestly, I know from growing up with him my whole life, he is not a touchy feely "i love you" type of guy. Its just not his nature. He loves all his grandkids and will babysit at the drop of a hat for any of them for any reason. But he just doesnt think to himself, I should go see my grandson.
I think its important for DS to be close to all 3 of his grandparents so I make the effort but sometimes I understand that I just have to accept it how it is! (might help that he is MY dad so I GET it)

Re: Problems with INLAWS??
b/c to him - this is the normal way a family behaves - My ILs are the same ....
I think it's unfair that you 'refuse' to go over there fro birthdays/holidays etc- unless there's more to the story that you're not telling us - (and that's fine too.........but from your post, it's not fair to him to be that way about his parents)
