Behavior Issues-Specifically Hitting
Within the past few months, DS has been hitting. It hasnt been in school or camp at all, mostly when Im around and he is playing with other kids. Its always over a toy, or something he wants, sharing issues etc. I always make sure I discipline right then and there with a warning and/or time out and he always has to apologize to the child, but Ive been catching some slack from other moms. Its a phase, and they are 2.5. What else can I do?
How far do you go to apologize on your childs behalf?

Re: Behavior Issues-Specifically Hitting
DS went through a scratching phase around 2 and after a couple of times I started shadowing him in public settings. I would watch him like a hawk and I could see when he was getting frustrated and stop it right there. I would pull him aside and tell him no scratching and give him a time out just to calm down before returning to play. After a few times (ok, maybe more then just a few) he started having a little more self control because he knew I would remove him from playing.

ds is going through this now. he hits and pulls hair.
i put him in time out as much as i can, and i correct him in a very stern voice.
it is embarrassing, i mean they are my friends kids and all, but it is still embarrassing. i feel bad. it is a phase though and it will pass
