Series 7 Exam
Has anyone taken the Series 7 Exam?
I am studying for it now and my head is spinning. I am schedule to take the exam next week but may postpone another week or so. If you took it did you pass the first time? I have included a poll.

I took it once and failed by 3 points. Damn options.
I was going to take it again and I got laid off from my job so the sponsorship went away. After that the new jobs I had didn't offer sponsorship for it.
It absolutely broke my heart. I studied so hard. Took all of the practice tests and still failed.

Dh passed it the first time, but he took it right out of college so he still remembered all that stuff from classes, you know?

Took it once and passed--my employer Morgan Stanley had paid for a prep course, but I never bothered going and just got a prep book (it was 10 years ago--I've since changed fields--but it was a generic study book). I didn't think it was bad if you are a good test-taker.

I took it once (and passed) a bazillion years ago. Had my Series 24 too. But I left the industry and have since let them lapse.

I took it and passed on the first time. I found that the practice tests were the best to prepare me. I just kept doing them over and over.
Some pointers from one who has taken more tests in this area then I care to think about and I have been successful...As soon as you sit down...write out the antonyms you remember (PRIME for example) and the formulas. That way, when you get to a question where you need something from them to answer, you can refer back. Don't change an answer unless you are 100% sure. Most of the questions..you can eliminate at least 2 but 2 of the answers are going to look correct. Read them carefully!
Also, make sure you are up on the Bond Regulation agencies...there was so many questions for me on these.

Wow Fran, good for you!! I took it a long time ago and passed with an 82 the first time. Everyone kidded me that I studied too much. I do recall a lot of people I worked with failing it the first time out. If it's still the same as it use to be in terms of the prep materials, I remember doing the tests over and over and over. But be sure not to think you know the answer on the real test bc you recognize it from the study materials. Again, if it hasn't changed, the evil test makers will use similar questions and just change a word or two. Flashcards help visualize the info, acronyms, mneumonics (sp?) and rhymes or songs with the info are really helpful too. And there's a lot to be said for what you can cram into your short term memory. I think I forgot the principles of options (my trouble area) 1/2 hour after the test was finished.
Good luck! I feel like my brain would be too fried to remember all that info now.

see, I'm not the best test taker. If I would have some tools like this I bet it would have made a difference.

I took it and passed it the first time with a 90.
This was about 12 years ago and my motivation was that if I didn't pass it I lost my job
I read all the material and then just spent a couple weeks doing the practice tests over and over.
I have a ton of licenses now and I used the same method. Good luck
