I need help with ribs.
I have pork ribs in my fridge. I want to marinade them... I think? I just want to make them as tasty as possible. WWYD?
I don't have a grill, I am doing them in the oven.

Re: I need help with ribs.
I've always just done BBQ sauce. I do them in the crock pot for about 4-5 hours then grill them but you could throw them in the broiler after.

Re: I need help with ribs.
I've only cooked ribs on the grill but when I have I've done a dry rub and let them sit for a few hours, cook and add sauce at the end. I use this recipe from Cook's Illustrated:
Dry Rub for Barbecue 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) sweet paprika 2 tablespoons chili powder 2 tablespoons ground cumin 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar 2 tablespoons salt 1 tablespoon dried oregano 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1 tablespoon black pepper, ground 1 tablespoon white pepper, ground 1 to 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper, to taste Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl. The rub can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for several weeks.
VERY flavorful. I'm sure it could work in the oven as well but have never tried it.

Re: I need help with ribs.
when I make them in the oven, I sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder on them. Then bake at 250 for 2 hours. I test one to see if they fall off the bone or it they need more time. If yes, I coat with BBQ sauce (or teryiaki glaze or saucy susan) and broil for a few minutes each side to crisp them up.

Re: I need help with ribs.
My DH is the Rib Master in this house
He slow boils them first for about an hour to cook thoroughly and then marinades in a sweet bbq sauce and then grills or oven roasts. They are always come out crispy/gooey on the outside and moist on the inside, practically falling off the bone. Enjoy

Re: I need help with ribs.
This receipe is from Sandra Lee - I swear it is out of this world and SUPER easy
DH can devour an entire tray on his own.
Ingredients 2 full racks (quartered) baby back ribs 1-quart beef broth 2 cups barbeque sauce (recommended: Bullseye Original Barbeque Sauce) 1 cup honey
Directions Place ribs and beef broth in a large heavy pot or Dutch oven, and add enough water to fully cover ribs. Simmer over low heat for about 1 hour. Once tender, remove and set aside.
Preheat the grill to medium heat. In a medium bowl, combine barbeque sauce and honey. Baste ribs generously with sauce and grill for about 4 minutes on each side or until desired
I just place them on a cookie sheet - baste with the sauce on both sides - than throw them into the oven and bake for 8 minutes at 400

Re: I need help with ribs.
we do dry rubs, although i dont have the exact measurements, you can eyeball
garlic powder onion powder paprika salt pepper brown sugar
mix that in a bowl & then rub both sides of the ribs. COMPLETLY cover the ribs in the rub.
bake @ 275 oven for approx 2hrs & then the last 10 min or so bbq them to crisp them,
the meat literlly falls off & they are to die for

Re: I need help with ribs.
Whatever of the 9,000 "World's Best Ribs" recipes you use....peel the membrane off the back. It's the thin layer on the less meaty side, right near the bone.
No matter what you do, that improves the recipe 1000x.

YES to the dry rub.
then put some sauce on it (bbq) for the last 10 minutes or so. you should be fine in the over.

Re: I need help with ribs.
You boil the ribs until fully cooked and then through them in the oven for a few minutes with saucy suzy, my mom used to do this for us when we were kids..
OMG i am salivating just thinking about it.

Re: I need help with ribs.
Whether boiling, baking or crocking, the key is slow cooking. After years of using a sauce only, I have become a huge dry rub fan. Fantastic flavor! Then at the end add your sauce.
