Certification
Background: My cousin went to school in Maryland and has taught for a few years in Maryland. She is moving back here and is trying to get her NYS teacher certification. We are pretty sure she has everything she needs, and is just up tp the step of actually applying. She does not have her Master's degree yet so she is trying to apply for her "initial" certification.
Here is her question: i'm trying to apply for my NY certifications, and when I go to do it for special education, it will only allow me to click on a "professional certification" which i do not want to apply for ... however, the other option i can click on is "students with disabilities" and I can get my initial certification with that ... do you know if their compatible or similar? or if i can teach special ed with the students with disabilities certification?
TIA

Re: Certification
With a special ed degree, you should be applying for the Students with Disabilities certificate. That's what mine is. Good luck!
